Re: AME tech exams
qa guy is setting you up to fail. study up on the textbooks, the transport "study guide" is just the table of contents of the textbooks. but study up and go write, you might pass, you probably won't. book again in 30 days then you will pass as you will know what to expect. I went to too many tech ex...

Any of their old carcasses around?[/quote] QHY was one of the 3s in gimli that day, but the plummers lodg...

put about a liter of avgas in the tank, swirl it around, then cut it out with a torch, no more problems getting the fitting out!

Re: Manhattan Declaration:"Global warming" is not a global crisi
it's sad how people can believe such nonsense, isn't it? Hopefully this gets more media attention. Isn't it funny how as soon as a scientist says that global warming may not be progressing exactly as the left wing politicians say it is, they are automatically industry shills? Don't forget that Green...

Gas Mileage
recently, I've noticed with my truck, if I fill with premium i get about 600km per tank. if I fill with regular i get about 450km a tank. even last summer i filled with regular, i'd get 550km at least. but now the regular gas has 10% ethanol in it and I just don't get the mileage. I did up the math,...

Re: Old Airplanes - Feasible?
I was just using the DC-3 as an example. Also the basler is 3.5 million, a normal 3 is around 150,000. I was thinking along the lines of caravans and the like being replaced by piston planes that burn less fuel, are cheap to buy, etc. This is more of a joke than anything else, I don't think you'll s...

Old Airplanes - Feasible?
Just wondering what the consensus is on this. With raising fuel prices, does anyone think that some of the older freighters might make a comeback? A DC-3 can haul 7000lbs, and burns far less fuel than a turbine. It's slow but cheap to run. What's the thoughts on this? Could anyone imagine an operato...

Re: Tips, hints, tricks, etc
some good tips!
When taking a prop off a Navajo, I use two 7/8 snap-on off sets, together on the nut, then it doesn't strip.
On the Lycoming exhaust, I got lucky years ago, and I got a cheap wrench free at a gas station, and that thing actually fits just right on exhaust nuts! It's never failed me

I'm new to avcanada, and don't know if this has been done already, but I thought it would be nice for some veterans to share some tips, hints, trick, whatever with the greenies who come to this site. Any advice, little tricks that you learn in the field, whatever. Here's a start - instead of crazy g...
