Re: Manitoba Govt Air Services to be Privatised

Wondering how big the bond will be for private jet medevac pilots. And how quickly said pilots will leave again anyway... Not really a concern...my understanding is that you can’t run jets off short gravel while you’re operating under CARS 70-whatever. So there won’t be any private jet medevacs unl...

Ok, enough! Debate this via pm instead, or on YouFaceTwit... We all know they’ve been shut down; the whys and the wherefores can/will be debated ad infinitum . However y’all are straying onto thin ice by laying the blame at the feet of Mr.X, Ms.Y or Capt.Z - which is why, I suspect, that the last th...

Conair is; Airspray is not; Sask. Gov’t I assume is; Manitoba was, but it’s now under the Airspray umbrella; Ontario, Quebec and Nfld are, dunno about the rest.

Recruiting staff for highly specialized positions is very difficult due to the specific qualifications and training required, as well as significant competition from private sector employers. I’m struggling to comprehend how DEF got anywhere near an aircraft fuel source? Some major league fackery going on to get a vehicle exhaust additive confused with an aeroplane fuel additive, no?

Re: Effects of carrying weight in float compartment?

Well, I've never carried fuel in the floats on a 172/180/185, but I have carried it in an Otter, and seen it done on the Beav, and I've carried a variety of boats and canoes on 185s and Otters...Balance the load out laterally, and place it in the centre compartments, and you'll be good. Assuming tha...

OK, I'll bite... 8) Bombardier 415 I guess? And mentioned what they get paid. Are they the highest $$$ now they are Airspray and how much more are they getting now they are private? Yes, Cl-415. I'd suspect that the highest paid tanker pilots in the country are the senior few from Manitoba who quali...

Re: WestJet to be sold in friendly deal to Onex Corp. for $5 billion

I can’t see how selling off Encore (even with a CPA) makes sense? Part of their recruitment draw is the One List - without that, then salaries are going to have to go up to attract and keep people. Keep the one list, and sell Encore leads to huge training bills at the subsidiary...where’s the upside?

That depends on the pilot. I think that’s the whole point, isn’t it? Make carbon-intensive things more expensive so that we do less of them. If we still wish to to continue, then the market should figure out a cheaper way of doing things.
