Re: WestJet new direction with ULCC integration
This is hilarious. People in Canada are financially illiterate. I do not in any way defend Westjet or Alexis. But the numbers are the reason. It makes no financial sense unless you are running a money laundering/tax write off business. And that has been done/ is done. But there is no question that ...

Re: WestJet -VS- Flair
Thinking about Captain upgrade would you join WestJet or Flair as an FO? I would take a much longer look at the big picture than just the upgrade. If all you want is the left seat as soon as possible then obviously Flair, Lynx, or Porter. At Flair we just awarded 10 upgrades, the range being hired ...

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
So why did it happen? It's been happening for awhile now, and it's far from a single pairing occurrence. If there's a good explanation for it I'm sure others will be as interested as I am in hearing about it. The schedule upload to NavBlue was corrupted and had to be added to the bid portal manuall...

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
Are you suggesting we bypass our MEC? This is supposed to be their job. I don't mind anyway, we just need to know. I am suggesting the fastest way to get things like that fixed is to bring it to the CP. You can ask your ALPA reps to bring it to me as well. Either way, we can't fix what we don't kno...

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
Hi TB, I think it's time someone looks at the reality of your pilot group. There are multiple instances of pairings such as the one pointed to here. Yeg has October pairings at the end of the month that spanne 4 days and one of those has no duty, no credits. They new bid packages for November are f...

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
Hi tbalyx. You say min 4 credit per day is being given to pilots if no duty assigned. Please explain this 5 day pairing YVR-CUN-YVR where pilots are not getting min 4 daily credit on DAY 2,3,4. Please see image below I can't. Didn't even know we had a 4 day layover somewhere. That seems suspicious....

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
I think you might not win this one in arbitration, given the definition is a calendar day and for the purpose of that even though the duty begins on the second calendar day, it finishes on the third. You even state for the monthly total days worked it counts as three days, you seem to have it both ...

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
Example: you're operating on the first day early morning ykf - yvr, start off day 0600lt (ykf) and they have you operate a red eye back that lands in ykf on the third day at 0530lt. So say September 1st to 3rd. It is very much so a 3 day pairing, and you should get 12 credits but you get 9.7 credit...

Re: FLAIR NOT PAYING PILOTS FOR WORK
do you support paying pilots in accordance with the CBA? I do, and I'm confident that we are doing so. If you actually work here and want to discuss it give me a call anytime. Example: you're operating on the first day early morning ykf - yvr, start off day 0600lt (ykf) and they have you operate a ...

Re: Flair Cadet Program Assessments
Hey that's great news! Then why does the program cost 2x? What 737 training is being provided as described in the program? O The 737 training provided uses Flairs FTD to complete part of the multi-engine training and the MCC portion of the course. It is not a type rating, although candidates will b...

Flair, is #2 after AC Number of aircraft in service today based on quick online search Air Canada - 196 Jazz - 107 Westjet - 105 Encore - 47 Porter - 45 Transat - 36 Flair - 20 Maybe in your delusional world of 'alternate facts', Flair is number 2. But here in the real world, it's a relatively smal...

Re: “I compete in Canada, so I need to be competitive in Canada,” - Mike Rosseau
Not sure why you don’t think year 1 FOs aren’t worth more at a “legacy flag carrier” Why not 100$/credit an hour for year one FOs. Porter paying 85$/credit for E2 for FOs. Did I mention this is without a union? ALPA should absolutely be able to squeeze out that rate. Edit: everyone keeps mentioning...

Re: Flair Cadet Program Assessments
With 5000 down and 10,000 being deducted on the first of the month as per the FTU I would be concerned about the statement on their website: “ Students who do not progress further in the cadet program will continue on the normal iATPL track.” I would caution any candidate to think about how and why...

Before paying for their training, will these 'several hundred' applicants be given an explanation as to why the graduation rate at genesis is significantly below the industry average? https://www.tcu.gov.on.ca/pepg/audiences/pcc/2020-pcc-kpi/data/?pccid=164237 Also, I am curious why genesis uses A3...

Re: Flair Cadet Program Assessments
Out of curiosity… how does one claim “highly competitive” when the organization has yet to run a class from end to end? One claims that because one has several hundred applicants for 10 spots. Hence "highly competitive" Before paying for their training, will these 'several hundred' applicants be gi...

Re: Flair Cadet Program Assessments
There is some misinformation on this post. The Genesis Flair Cadet program isn't tied to any carrier. Students graduate with a full iATPL and integrated APS-MCC (Airline Pilot Standards Multi Crew Coordination ) with the MCC portion conducted using Flair's new B737 Fixed Training Device and our Stan...
