Re: How to convert My EASA B2 Avionics Licence to a TC E Lic

Tell them you are selt taught. This is acceptable but you will have to show more experience.
Once your app has been approved you will have to sit the exams.

Re: What is with this forum??

AME's are professionals, then let's quit the personal attacks, insults, crude remarks as it is so juvenile. Well said. I believe this is a major pitfall for AMEs, not just on a forum but also within our companies. We need to raise the bar, and it has to be an initiative thats starts from the floor....

Re: Why are AME's underpaid?

The school situation sounds like GREAT news for us?? We will be in even more demand and have companies bidding for our experience? A more likely scenario is that operators will petition TC to make it easier to optain an AME license to make up for the shortage. This would take the value out of the l...

Re: CBC - are you logging ALL snags?

This problem is not limited to the small operators. For the airlines 85% of all defects entered in the log book by pilots are made after arriving at home base even though less than 50% of all flights terminate at home base.

Re: Jazz RJ heavy checks going south?

7-10 days is enough for a CRJ C check depending on the package. Although Bombardier's Center of Excellence in West Virginia does them in
3-4 days, they find it helps to wear very dark sunglasses when dong inspections.

Re: Converting EASA PART 66 B1/CAT "C" to AME

Unfortunately there is no way to convert an EASA license to a TCC license or visa versa. You will have to prove experience, your license may help with that, and write the exams. For CRJ work there is JAZZ but the pay is the worst in the industry. You could try Maxcraft in Calgary or Voyageur or Skys...

The best aviation organization on the world FAA only requiere 18 months of practical experience to get licensed. The "best"???? Have you ever worked on an american registered aircraft? The A&P license is the easiest license in the world to get. You don't need any training and only minimal experienc...

It is not in CAR's. You can sometimes find it in the AMM but in many cases they just give the tolerance for each individual system.

Who was injured here? Physically or financially? I think it's a Hoot! Somebody should make a movie about it. I hea...

So, one has to ask. Is he going to be a better pilot if he gets a license? Who are the victims here? Is there an injured party? He's very obviously talented enough to pass all the SIM rides etc. Make him get a licence and put him back in the 73! Thank him for drawing attention to the loop hole in t...

Re: EASA to Canadian AME

Your license will not be recognized in Canada. What you have to do is prove training and experience. If your training is not TC approved you will have to show 5 yrs experience, if it is approved then 3 years. Once you have shown enough experience and training then you will have to write the exams. T...

Re: Is contract work better than being an employee?

Contracting has gone downhill. 10 years ago contractors were paid almost double there full time counterparts, now the pay is almost the same. Contractors are now cheaper than fulltime employees if you add the cost of benifits to fulltime wages. Also contractors have no income inbetween jobs and no U...

One hour is a standard charge for testing an altimeter on the bench, it takes a little longer but that is what shops charge for doing it. I am curious as to why you are asking this question?

so taking an altimeter to get rescertified on the bench should be about an hour? Yes, if it passes an hour should be enough. Remember though that it takes times to remove/install it and perform the leak check. If you have a trasnsponder I recommend testing it at same time on aircraft with the altim...

Re: Altimeter recert.

A recert of your altimeter on the bench should take an hour, this not include removal/installation time or leak check of the aircraft. It is more cost effective to have it recertified on the airframe doing the transponder recert at same time. To do both CAR's 571 appendices B&F takes 4 hours in situ...

AME's at Jazz make about 20% less than none union AME's. This new agreement does very little to close that gap. Have to ask, why keep
paying union dues to make less money than everyone else?
