Alot of commuters out of Halifax. AC pilots/FA's and Jazz pilots and FA's. Some are quite senior.
It is doable as the previous poster said, but you definitely have to keep an eye on the loads.
I commuted alot on encore and porter as often the AC flights were packed with standbys.

Re: Is being Relief Pilot detrimental to career
It would be difficult to pass the upgrade if you never had any command time. RP can be a great job, but a lazy one at times.

Re: WestJet pilots to fly Swoop aircraft
So how does capturing the Swoop flying and YOS benefit the top 1/3 of the pilot group? We all know they never "take one for the team". It's ALPA 101 Preferential seniority based bidding for vacation and monthly schedule?? Pay protection?? With YOS coming in you can bet the payscale will change ie 2...

Re: YUL Hotel Deals
Comfort Inn Dorval is roughly $60 a night plus taxes for Jazz crew. Free shuttle to and from the airport. Breakfast included.
It's the best deal I've seen here

Cost of commuting
Hey guys,
For the commuters at WJ and Encore, do you folks pay for the flights or is travel free? I though I heard that as long as you were in uniform, there was no cost for the commuter flights.
Is this still the case?
Thanks

Encore Commuting policy
Hey guys
I heard recently that Encore now has some sort of
commuting policy. Any truth to this, and if so can anyone fill us in on the details?
Tried searching but no luck.

Jazz questions
Couple of questions, 1. On average, how much are first year FO's bringing home each month (net income)? 2. What's the average income per month in per diems? 3. How many days off a month are new hires getting? ( I realize people are moving up in seniority quickly these days) 4. Lastly , what's the pr...

Mainline Pilot posting
Just got on the career page of the WJ website and noticed that the pilot posting for mainline is taken down. I thought I read that Dave P said it would be up for 3 months starting mid January?
Anyone have any info?
Thanks

Thanks Aerodude, but I've actually been here for quite a while! True North, thank you for the grammer correction. Seems the spell check on my phone doesn't want to recognize "WestJet" as one word. Now that that the grammer issue is out of the way, do you have any relevant information regarding the c...

Is Transat a company where one can commute?
Curious to know if you bid your schedule, and is it based on seniority?
Thank you

Awful lot of views but only 2 confirmed emails for interviews. Plus 1 guy I know personally makes 3.
Maybe I shouldn't get to bummed out about not getting an interview email lol.
Thanks to those who responded

Pilot posting on Air Canada site
Hi guys,
I was just on the Air Canada site looking for a pilot posting, but I couldnt find one.
Anyone have any idea when/if there will be another one up?
I understand they will be looking for more people soon.

By the looks of things, commuting will not be an option either, if you are expected to work 20 days a month.

LCC socialized bidding
Can anyone shed some light on the socialized bidding scheduled planned for the LCC?
Is this going to mirror the schedule bidding process that westjet has in place?
Also wondering how many working days a month there are, and if there is any reserve coverage planned.
Thanks

BC to Newfoundland is a cross Canada flight. People seem to forget that we have been a part of The country for 60+ years. Last time I checked, Canada didn't end in Nova Scotia.

tax claims
I did a 7hr float rating last year, and I'm wondering if I can claim it on income tax as a tuition expense? Employment was gained as a result of completing the rating.
Also, anyone claim uniforms as an expense come tax time?
Did a search but couldn't come up with anything of use.
Thanks
