Re: Recall of MEC Chair & Vice Chair

Same troll accounts. No solutions, no specifics, only vague hollow accusations. Some are crying butthurt bitches, a few are management keyboard shit disturbers, they're all trying to bring dissent and tear apart ACA solidarity and reduce our chances going forward. 2027 is coming soon. If you want a...

I believe it’s a minimum of two years at Jazz and the 2000 hours and an ATPL.

Nothing new about that, in Canada aviation is treated as a cash cow as opposed to vital infrastructure.

Re: Air Canada summer/fall hiring

Just remember AC doesn’t have a set time line from interview to hiring. The candidates with more experience (705 jet PIC, jet time, total time etc) and other things that add to their resume get called much more quickly than candidates with bare minimums. If you haven’t gotten a PFO hang tight, no ne...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Yea YWG was the last 320 ETOPS base, but it’s apples to oranges this time around Previously only a couple 319’s were ETOPS - with the XLR it’ll be 30 fins or so Tricky to bid when going off rumours! I can see the logic behind YUL being ETOPS - but for those who want to avoid night transatlantic fly...

Any thoughts ??
That’s the rumour, YYZ is such a big 320 base that it would be hard to keep guys ETOPS qualified. Also YYZ overseas ops warrant a wide body. But who knows.

Re: Pilot Hiring 2025

I'm not in the hiring department, but I believe they will be "full" classes. We had a few half classes the last couple months, but we are back to full classes (~20-30?) moving forward. Hiring 40–60 pilots a month again — that’s aggressive, especially with no end in sight. At this pace, we’re adding...

Re: Why WestJet?

At WJ the upgrades are not based on a socialized system. No they aren’t but there’s nobody passing on upgrades cause they’ll get a crappy schedule by being junior. At AC you get guys passing on upgrades cause they’ll like having a better schedule while the guys that take the upgrade know that they’...

My buddy started there 2 years ago, 737 YVR base right away, he’s still on reserve. You think he’s getting the “quick upgrade” like everyone else is saying? Like don’t get me wrong, upgrade takes forever at WJ, but AC YVR base is not where 2 year upgrades happen. I didn’t know early NB upgrades wer...

All of the 787 systems are electric, the only bleed off the engines are for engine anti ice. Everything else is electric. Compression for the cabin electric, wing anti ice electric, flaps electric etc…

What makes you think that? There's 80 aircraft being delivered in the next 4 years with hundreds of retirements. Might be a pause for a month or two but I don't doubt there will still be massive hiring for the next few years. Hiring in 2024 will likely pause until the fall possibly winter. As noted...

Re: Fleet offers

And time on reserve can be great if you live on base and don’t really want to work too much. How often are these junior NB captains getting called out while on reserve? You’ll be called out quite a bit, it’s spread out a bit more now as compared to the old reserve system (not as easy to pass on fly...

Re: Interview result

Here’s the thing no news is good news. How long you wait is determined by how competitive your CV is. If you have just the mins you’ll wait longer than someone who has experience as an Emirates 777 Captain who wants to return to Canada.

My buddy was a longtime Captain there. It’s not the job it once was. He left after 30 years. He used to be LA based. Now he’s at American and is very happy.

Just 253 vacancies. That is a flat bid. The music is sure slowing. But the 787s are coming next year as are the 220s and more 737s. These last couple flat bids have been due to aircraft availability. Same thing that happened at the big US carriers last year. I might be wrong but I believe either th...
