Re: Corporate Pilot "Duties"

I mearly suggested changing the title of the job ad. You are not hiring a pilot, you are hiring somone to do odd jobs and a little bit of flying. I'm all for the job, and I'm sure it will be a good gig for somone. I just don't like how it is advertised. This is what is wrong about this industry, the...

Re: Corporate Pilot "Duties"

You didn't answer the question. Is the 37k for 6 months or a year? The difference is that the guy flying the beaver is making that in 6 months and flying a lot more than a 150hrs, he actually has a job as a pilot. I am a career bush pilot, you can not blow that smoke up my ass! Ya if I fly into a ca...

Re: Corporate Pilot "Duties"

Mabe changing the titile of the job ad would be a good idea. You say you are looking for a "pilot and aircraft manager" but that sounds to me like the lesser part of the job. You don't see that as dangling a "carrot"? I understand the idea of the job, and will be a good gig for someone for sure, but...

Re: CARs that you think should be changed

Glad we are in agreement....I am the one that posted about "5000 hours on floatplanes". I was trying to point out that I have never been in wheather that was so bad I needed a "calibrated" airspeed or a functioning airspeed for that matter. You think that I am a "super" pilot with some extraordinary...

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (4 dead, 1 survivor)

"This accident was slated to happen long before the accident. Not really. With the icing involved, any delay with an 'unexpected circling' is known to make piloting busy (faster speed), so that approach simply got tricky (not to mention potential engine out) while re-orientating from a straight-in ...

You are really grasping there flying the bug! If you are on a "big cross country flight" and find yourself in a "cloud" you my friend have done something wrong! Tell me flyingthebug about your beaver crash a few years ago. What insturment or gauge do you wish was working that day! You were very luck...

Re: CARs that you think should be changed

A pilot should have no problems landing or taking off in a small vfr airplane without an air speed indicator. If you can not do this, you are in need of more training....

Re: PC-12 off runway in YTS

How was it any safer being VFR ummmm.......cause you can see where you are going to have to execute a forced landing. If you were in imc that would be fairly hard to do! I have had an egine failure in a single engine airplane and guess what, I didn't crash because I could see! Glad you fiqured out ...

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (4 dead, 1 survivor)

I understand the effects of whiteout conditions(I have a fair amount of ski time) but from where the crash happend if there was good vis the pilot should have seen the island right infront of him and the shorline to the right to keep himself oriantated. He looks to be fairly close to both.

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (4 dead, 1 survivor)

I'd like the people who think the prop was NOT feathered explain to me, after seeing the pictures and video how that is NOT a feathered prop? I submit it may not be FULLY feathered, but it looks at least 90% feathered! And why no major damage to the prop? edit: I see damage to both props, I'd say n...

Re: Crash @ North Spirit Lake Ont (4 dead, 1 survivor)

Those props don't look featherd to me. I think from the picture you are looking at a blade from each engine. If you look at the spinner you can see the start of the blade coming out. That picture is deciving. I looked at a video from cbc news. There is a close up picture of the engines, looks like t...

Do you have your driving ticket back yet? If you can't drive it will be hard to find a job as a dock hand. Most dock hand jobs will require you to have a drivers licence.

For me it is automatic to check fuel before landing and it should be for everyone! You think that he would have made a radio call about the 1 engine thing! If he time to fether, he had time for that.
