Re: Foreign Conversion Fees

Thanks for all of the responses so far

Has anyone tried using their PC Financial debit card in Thailand? PC only uses Interac and won't guarantee that it will work on the Plus system.

Foreign Conversion Fees

PC Financial charges a 2.5% Foreign Conversion Fee but may not work on the Plus network since they use Interac. Our Mastercards charge a 2.5% fee. Our CAA Visa TravelMoney Card charges a 3.75% fee.

Thailand

My wife and I are finally planning a trip to Thailand. Feel free to post or pm with any useful tips. We would like to spend a few days in Bangkok then a few days in Chang Mai then a week in the islands. We may be leaving as early as this Sunday and return around April 16th. Info on flights (i.e. rou...

Re: Nationwide Pilot Union - Is it Possible??

I believe that more pilots in Canada are represented by ALPA today than since Air Canada left CALPA. I just heard that another airline may be joining ALPA in the very near future. Imagine is we were all members of the same union and refused to scab for each other and had the ability to move from air...

Re: CFRI .50

mattedfred, don't you fly a Dash 8 for Jazz? Aren't brakes on a Dash only meant for parking at the gate? I was under the impression that as long as it's not .1 CRFI in front of the marshaller a Dash is fine on any surface. We made A4 exit landing on 6R then Rwy10 landing on 6L in YUL the othe...

Re: CFRI .50

It is my understanding that a CRFI is not required if the RSC is reported as 50% B&D or more. Perhaps they were obligated to report the CRFI because the RSC was reported as less than 50% B&D? I would rather land on a runway that had a RSC/CRFI that I felt was too conservative rather than one that I ...

Re: Does anyone live in the Beamsville/Grimsby area?

We moved from Winnipeg to Waterdown in 1998. We were renting an apartment in Waterdown and I was based at YYZ. We loved it there. We are currently living in Cambridge and don't know why anyone would want to raise a family outside the Waterloo Region. They seem to have everything a family could ever ...

Re: "Unforeseen" - Use the Farce, Luke

I have flown commercially for 16 years and have only exceeded my maximum duty day by a few minutes on rare occasions. This often has resulted in my having to overnight away from base, despite the fact that I was scheduled to be off the following day. I am fortunate enough to work for a unionized emp...

Re: skyregional delayed

The only sarcastic text in my previous post was the might is right comment. Perhaps the old OAC mantra was out of context with the rest of my post as I was actually referring to AC with that statement.

Re: skyregional delayed

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Might is always right folks. When the Jazz pilot group do something for the benefit of their members they are seen as being selfish and lowering the bar. When anyone else does the same thing they are seen as only doing what they are obliged to do for their members. If AC wanted ...

Re: skyregional delayed

My understanding was that the original delivery date for the first Q was the end of May. Has that been moved up?

The pilot group won't find out who will be awarded the Q until at least February 11th.

Re: What Route is AC forced to operate

Air Canada and any airline that provides feed for Air Canada must schedule at least one FA that meets a minimum standard of bilingualism to specific communities within Canada. YYJ is one of them. Every other Canadian carrier is not required to meet these requirements. Either the ACPPA should be scra...

Re: Hiring periods for Northern Ontario... and beyond?

Determine what your limits are. Are you willing to live anywhere, under any circumstances, for any pay, to fly any type? Then narrow down which operators have hired pilots with your experience in the past. I think your best bet would be to get on a small cessna on floats. Find out who operates small...

Re: CARS question with reference

So if you fly an aircraft for pleasure or under what was CAR 604 and you fly for a commercial air operator you must follow CAR 700 which is the more restrictive. Must follow CAR 700 for flight time and flight duty time limitations by combining CAR 604 and CAR 700 flight time and flight duty times o...

Re: CARS question with reference

What about the 36 in 7 or 3 in 17 time free from duty requirements? Must these be coordinated between a beaver registered to a business for private use and a 705 operation? Wouldn't this be the same as operating my own private aircraft on my days off? i.e. my total flight time would include time fro...

Re: AC C2 & TC!

One of my competitors allows me the opportunity to commute to work with them for free. Another one does so for $20 less than the airline that I provide lift as a subcontractor. I also get discounts on hotel rooms, car rentals and cruises even though I am unable to offer the employees of any of these...
