Re: Pic from a swamper

ok - nice pics but I think there's still a few including myself that need some pointers on sizing pics to fit here. What IS the optimum size and how is done in a normal pic file?

TIA

Re: Accident Report and Recommendations (CGAQW)

By the way how do you determine if that gurgle sound was not a hole or split half way up the tube...by sound? There is only one proper way to be sure of the condition of floats and that is by proper maintenance inspections by those responsible for maintenance. And if a problem is found fix...

Re: Accident Report and Recommendations (CGAQW)

If I'm getting no water out of a compartment for more than 2 days, I fill up the float pump with some water and pour it into the float; just a little bit of water. If you pump again and get water, then the tube's good. If you pump and get no water yet again, the tube's probably disconnected No doub...

Re: I'd like to hop towards Greenland

There is a great account of the route in this book , "Fate is The Hunter" - I read it last winter and enjoyed it immensly. You'll enjoy reading what he/they used for an altimeter in 0/0 conditions, letting down over the ocean with no access to a current meter setting......big kahoonas  Enjoy ...

Nunavut has a 12 hr hunt ban from fly time. We'd move our guys in the evening to spike camps and be legal by morning.

Re: Single Otter Float Drivers

So, how does Harbour Air increasing their gross weight to 9000 warrant more flap travel if the lag in power compared to a garret was the reason for less flap in the first place? IE: more weight, slow and dirty = harder pancake. Close to being correct on the wording :-) The initial comparison or fla...

Hmmm – that’s a tough one .…..how long have you been sober? Perhaps since back in the day when motorcycles roamed free on Canada’s highways, riders for the most part without helmets and legal? If so, then hell yah - I’ll ride with you, you’ve had lots of time to clear your head, and we all know cats...

Sorry my mistake stl, as a new 200hr “wonder” with freshly minted “permit to fly”, I just happened on Avcanda by fluke, fairly new member as you can see. Re: A serious discussion about marijuana.

The amount of effort that has gone into this thread only speaks to the absurd direction this industry has taken. Yes, there’s lots of good remaining – however this IS a classic example of the “ new age “ in aviation. For Gods’ sake, we are on a supposed “professional pilot” forum and I can’t believe...

Re: Single Otter Float Drivers

Been a few years since I've had my nose in the Garrett POH however I do re-call for the most part that it refers to the original DHC3 POH and that it must be operated within the parameters stated ie; 144 wheels/133 floats. There is nothing other than this to my recollection in the Garrett supplement...
