Re: 300XC question
You might want to check the distance on that 300nm cross country. When I did mine out of CYAM, I had to go all the way down to St Catherines area to hit the 300nm radius requirement. According to Foreflight, CYKF-CYAM is only 250ish From TC 421.30: 25 hours solo flight time emphasizing the improveme...

Have you checked your online TC file? Might be able to find some answers there. https://gart.tc.gc.ca/GetAccess/Saml/SSO/Init?GAREASONCODE=-1&GARESOURCEID=ReverseProxy&GAURI=https://gart.tc.gc.ca/secure/galro%2Daglie/%3F%5Fgc%5Flang%3Deng&Reason=-1&APPID=ReverseProxy&URI=https://gart.tc.gc.ca/secure...

Re: What's happening with Aviation medicals lately?
Did you need to submit anything extra, or just wait? I heard the process was the doctor sends in the paperwork, and you just wait to get a bill on the mail from TC. Is that your experience? Nope. Had the stamp in my book so I just kept working like normal until I heard otherwise. Eventually just go...

Re: Aviation headset model - suggestion
I started off with a set of $250 AvComms. Those came with a bag along with gel ear seals. They were great for my Commercial and Multi ratings, along with the first couple years of aviation career. I've still got them today as my backup headset, though I got active noise cancelling wired in when the ...

Re: Companies Laying off.
Perimeter Where did you hear Perimeter was doing layoffs? Couple guys there I've talked to haven't heard anything about it. Me, got a call this morning. They're starting with all the new hire in training (me), probably going to the junior pilots soon Sounds like more of a hiring freeze than layoffs...

Depends on which province you're in but I know people here in Manitoba have done supply teaching, which is a pretty good gig (you don't need a teaching certificate in Manitoba to do it).

Here ya go. You can't save any info in it, from what I recall, so you'll have to fill it out and print it off. Give me a shout if it doesn't work and I can try and email it to you.

Re: Samra and Saron validity question
For what it's worth, TC told me that your ATPL exams don't lock in if you've previously written the IATRA. I wound up having to rewrite mine after I had gone past the 24 month mark, even with doing a PPC on a two crew aircraft.

Re: Confederation or Sault College Graduates and Current Students
Oh they have a shuttle at Sault. That's convenient. Did you have to pay? How much did it cost? Shuttle was included. It was driven out by the morning and afternoon duty instructors, as long as flying was on (sometimes flying was cancelled due to weather and the sim schedule would go into effect ins...

Re: Confederation or Sault College Graduates and Current Students
I graduated from Sault College back in 2008. When I was there, it was a 3 year, 7 semester course (you flew through your first summer until you had the PPL done). Flying was half of the week starting in semester 2, with regular classes the other half of the week. By the end of the course, you gradua...

Re: IATRA validity
A type rating in a Metro 3, under ICAO Annex 8 with a MTOW of 14,500 lbs or 16,000 lbs and 19 seats will freeze. With regards to the M3, a PPC on it nowadays will not lock in an IATRA as it's now considered a single pilot aircraft in Canada. I had a discussion with TC about it back in Dec, as I did...

Re: ANR Conversion Kit - reviews?
I put one of these in my old Avcomms. It's still going strong. Decent battery life also (mine is just the 9V box with the on/off switch). Handled the noise of a Metro perfectly fine, so it should handle most aircraft, I would think.

Re: Headset recommendations
I picked up a set of Lightspeed Zulus used for about $500 and absolutely love them. I used to have a set of AvComms that I had ANR put into but, at the end of the day, they were just too heavy and made my neck a bit sore after a 14 hour day. I fly Metros and find that the Zulu has alright passive wh...

Re: Perimeter Metro CADORS info on accident in Sanikiluaq
Not knowing the Metro 2 in regards to fuel load, can it fly Winnipeg to God's Lake Narrows, then God's Lake Narrows all the way to Sanikiluaq and hold an alternate with IFR reserve fuel? What is full fuel on the 2? Also, why would Manitoba Ambulance approved pilots and nurses be doing Nunavut Gover...
