Re: Caravan Trys to Eat Otter Tail on Saltspring

I thought the PT-6 was fitted with blade latches when on floats for the very reason to avoid the unwanted thrust when going from feather to fine/reverse. Makes me think the prop wasn't shut down properly. Maybe time will tell.

Re: Does anyone sell headsets on the weekend

You say bluetooth headset.
But you don't specify that you need an aviation headset.
Try a truck stop such as Flying J it it's just a bluetooth headset you're looking for
I use a BlueParrot B350-XT and it's great. I'd say it's a good one.
Let me know how you make out.

Re: I'm going to court

The medical doctor conducting your medical evaluation is in a better position than transport Canada's medical officer to see if you qualify for a pilot's licence, If you don't pass the doctor conducting the medical would say so, That's not how it works. The CAME collects the data. TC decides if tha...

Redlaser, I'd sure like to read about these tribunals. Could you provide a link or a bit more info?
thanks

Re: I'm going to court

I'm still waiting to hear from the tribunal appeal court in Ottawa, I sent them a fax requesting a hearing on the matter, no pun intended, It pisses me off that the chief medical officer in Toronto can request a audiogram test out of the blue , like many of you said I could have gone for an audiogr...

Re: I'm going to court

A couple of things come to mind. First, I'll bet ya that IF they (TC) have taken any action at this time, your licence is suspended, not cancelled. But methinks they would send you a few more warning shots. (Unless of course you've use up all your warnings in unrelated matters) Commanding that the r...

Re: Three dead in Edmonton plane crash

Does anyone else feel the statement that the seaplane rating is intended for pilots who are already licenced is a bit curious. I'm sure that way back when airplanes were more affordable guys would buy a cub on floats and get the private licence on that. The question then was could they fly a wheeled...

Re: Medicals

Kejidog,
Would you rather that all pilot medicals were to allow to be expired and then those pilots grounded until the dangers of the COVID-19 pass?
That will be months. Pilots would lose pay, air service would fail and passengers would be stranded.
Is that a better option?

Re: Asymmetric reverse

This topic is giving me a headache. Doesn't anyone have experience steering an airplane on the ground using the wheel brakes? Are the brakes not the wheel equivalent of reverse engine thrust? Speaking of driving a Cat, Where is the old focker anyway. He should be here preaching the virtue of the low...

I think the flying school was upset not because of the law, but because you were trained and authorized left seat and not trained right seat.
I would have also made an issue of this

Re: What do you do when you think someone should never fly again?

What do you do in the case of a pilot who is an awesome pilot but constantly pushes weather (and promoted it), takes risks, screw the checklist we're 1 minute behind and is a "get er done" company man? The company loves him and he just happens to be the Chief pilot. If the company is big enough, an...

Re: Piston versus turbine engines.

piston engine has more levers than just a throttle and for sure piston engines have their own throttle controlled issues such as shock cooling and reverse bearing loading that can cause real serious damage if not operated properly. The engine I found most susceptible to improper handling was the Wr...
