Re: Commercial Written at TC

Thanks. I do know about and am working through the Aerotraining Online Tests. I've been through FTGU several times as well as the test at the back. I've been going through . too. I have the Canadian Comm Pilot Answer Guide and am going through that as well. Would anyone have anything else to recomme...

Re: Commercial Written at TC

Thank-you for this info. I found it very helpful. I'm writing my CPL written shortly and am wondering if there are any online practice exams anyone would recommend? Or if anyone else has any comments on preparing for the 'big written'? Are there quite a few questions on Air Taxi/Aerial Apps Regs etc...

Re: Interested in Bush Flying...Need Advice.

I just want to mention I'm doing my CPL at airhart and now have 120 total hours and a seaplane rating. I was able to get a student loan. Thanks for all of your advice.

Re: Interested in Bush Flying...Need Advice.

Survey type jobs are definitely an option. I know of a guy who has a contract to fly around and count cariboo. Hey, it's flying!

Re: Interested in Bush Flying...Need Advice.

Ahhh...of course I'm not putting snow angel on my resume! I would hope that my future employer does look at whether I can hack it or not and not just at my name on Av Canada. I'm confident in my aviation experience as well as my previous work experience in the bush. I was raised in the bush by a log...

Re: Interested in Bush Flying...Need Advice.

Thanks. I would like to do some of my CPL on floats as well as some time on skis. I agree it would be beneficial later on. Anyone know anywhere to get good training on skis? Also, I'm hoping to get a ramp job while I'm doing my CPL. I'd like to keep my current job at least at first as it pays well a...

I plan to go there again to check it out more in depth before I decide to move there. You both have been helpful. Thanks for the tips.

Re: Have anything to say about MJ Aviation in Dawson?

Thanks, I've heard some pretty good things about Whitehorse from others too. I'll have to check it out. Good to know not to go to Grand Prairie.

Re: Have anything to say about MJ Aviation in Dawson?

I actually just went through Dawson over the holidays and stopped in to inquire. I guess MJ is closed down now. I checked Ft. St. John as well and the school there has shut down as well. The closest flight training is now in Grand Prairie. I checked it out and it seems to be well established. Anyone...

Have anything to say about MJ Aviation in Dawson?

I'm thinking about moving to Dawson Creek. Does anyone know anything about MJ Aviation flight training school there? I have my PPL with 90 hours and am trying to break into bush flying. I plan to start my CPL and do a bush course on floats here in Kelowna at Air Hart, then I want to move north and h...

Re: Interested in Bush Flying...Need Advice.

Thanks for the positive advise. There's alot of negative out there, as I hear it is a hard line of work to break into. I looked up Air Mikisew in Ft. McMurray and was pretty stoked about what I found! Sounds like just what I'm looking for. I've always been a hard worker and strive to be good at what...

Good to know. Thanks. Does anyone recommend a flight school in northern BC/Alberta to take CPL at?

Re: Interested in Bush Flying...Need Advice.

Thanks for the advise. I have a few questions... I may not be able to move north until summer, and I plan to take my CPL then. I'm in Kelowna now, so should I take my float rating and/or bush course now or in the spring while I'm here? I've heard Air Hart has a good program, or do you recommend wait...

Re: Interested in Bush Flying...Need Advice.

Thanks for the advice. What flight schools would you recommend looking into in northern BC or AB for float rating, bush training, and CPL?

Interested in Bush Flying...Need Advice.

I'm going for bush flying. I've got my PPL and 85 hours. Can someone give me few ideas of how to build my hours? Also I'm planning on going for CL. Also would you recommend taking it slow as I'm able to afford it or take a loan and get it done? I've been told bush pilots can get hired with less hour...

Re: Nav Log Help

Thanks. I know about using the indicated altitude and I know how to do it on my flight computer, but what I don't really understand is...Do you use the closest airport altimeter setting for both climb and cruise (time, speed, distance)? Also do you subtract airport elevation for both and if so, then...

Nav Log Help

Could someone please help me understand using pressure altitude for flight plans? :? I understand to find the pressure altitude you take 29.92 - (altimeter setting) x 1000 and subtract the airport elevation, but I don't fully understand everything... Do you need to subtract a nearest airport elevati...
