Re: HARV'S AIR SHUT DOWN!

"voluntarily grounded all of the airplanes" I find that hard to believe, especially during a time when they have air cadets there trying to obtain a license on such a tight time period. They are probably just trying to save thier reputation, and make it look like they chose to ground the planes them...

HARV'S AIR SHUT DOWN!

Does anyone know any of the details on what happened with Harv's Air? The word in the air is that TC shut them down.

Anyone have any inside info on what happened, and what the effect will be on the cadets that are there?

Re: Renting from Harv's Air

Being that the rumour is they got shut down by TC today, I wouldn't recommend renting anything from them!

I often look at how a student has done up to that point. If the private licence was 120 hours, then I expect a 15-20 hour multi. If the private licence was done it 50 hours, then the multi can probably be done in 5-7. That is the general trend that I have seen.

Is that for real???

If so, I wouldn't want that job of checking the weather and updating the METAR every three minutes

I can't imagine ftu's spending that kind of money on a grob, for students to slam on the runway over and over.

Love it, have been flying commercially for four years now, can't stand it when I go too many days without flying. Sitting on the couch waiting for the phone to ring just isn't what I'm in it for.

I don't know about that, I would agree with you Big Pratt, I would only get on it low level over water. (and close to shore)

Probably no matter what you put on it, you cannot log the time towards anything. :(

India has a major shortage of pilots, and no good flight schools there, so Indians are looking elsewhere for flight training. Many schools seem to be specially advertising towards attracting the Indian students these days. At least that is what I've noticed on a few ftu websites.

Apparently Harvs Air in Manitoba has one, but it has forty million hours on it, and I hear that the avionics are nothing to look forward to. Anyway might be ok???

If you go to the site below, you have to scroll about half way down the page, the heading is emergency landing.

If it is training hours, the CFI will usually stamp and sign off the hours, certifying that they are correct. If they are hours with an employer, then you can usually get the Chief Pilot to certify them. That has been my experience thus far!

AVOID SKYWINGS, STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE. Talk to anyone who has trained there or worked there, good luck finding anyone with anything good to say. This is coming from someone who trained there and worked there. You do not want to have anything to do with them. If you do decide to go there, plea...

Talk to other instructors at the flight school who have recently done their instructor rating. They will usually have good advise that can help you out with your training. One tidbit that I was told, is that even if you don't agree with something, or it doesn't make sense to you, if that is what tra...

Then come home in the spring and fly your ass off for the summer, putting away some cash.
Ha Ha. that's a good one, i don't know where you instructed, but i find it's hard enough to make enough money to live on, never mind any extra to put away and save.
