Re: Snowbird crash in CYKA
Here is the page from the Tutor manual Sorry for double picture , I had trouble posting it As I said you have one manual. Does your manual describe the forced landing pattern. Where high key, low key, and final key are and crossing altitudes. How to deal with excess altitude. How to assess your pro...

Re: Snowbird crash in CYKA
Very well said I really cannot understand the reasoning behind turning back Except to possibly try to save the aircraft , something that is secondary at best . Now where can I find this in the Tutor manual , it simply states that if there is no successful re-light , you eject or force land 0 mentio...

Re: Snowbird crash in CYKA
I extend to the pilot my belief that he did the best he could, as he was trained to do, with a bad situation, at the worst possible time. Presuming that he flew as trained, I have uncertainty about the training, as it would seem to have a pilot attempt a turn back after an EFATO. I don't know RCAF ...

Re: Snowbird crash in CYKA
According to Newton, total energy = mgh + mv²/2 g = 32.2 ft/sec² 1 ft/sec = 0.592 kt or 1 kt = 1.69 ft/sec So 220 kt = 372 ft/sec and 130 kt = 220 fn/sec Assume 0 for engine failure realisation altitude, initial climb rate, drag and residual thrust. KE / unit mass at 220 = 372²/2 = 69192 Reducing t...

Re: Snowbird crash in CYKA
Normal climb is 220. ..... SO I HAVE AIRSPEED TO ZOOM!!! I am then at 130 with a much smaller turn radius will turn IF !!! I have the altitude to do so. That 90 kt zoom (if memory serves correctly, it has been a while) should get me 1200-1500 feet. Honest question, 'cause I don't know the Tutor at ...

Re: Snowbird crash in CYKA
There's talk of a "zoom" maneuver. Hey, I've even done it in the lowly 150. But to zoom, one must have excess speed to trade for altitude. Would a Tutor jet on a "normal" departure over a city, be carrying excess speed? To be carrying the excess speed implies that the plane was not climbed at Vy, a...

Re: Snowbird crash in CYKA
And in most cases the chances of surviving by landing or at least staying ahead are increased hugely . Hence the reason pilots are taught this. It been a clear and simple rule worldwide from the dawn of aviation. And because people want to dumb it down, they only teach one rule, land straight ahead...

Re: Snowbird crash in CYKA
Let's put it this way: is there anybody here who would NOT fly the Tutor....I'd be first in line; This is the type of arrogance common from many pilots who think they are invincible. Once the tutors are cleared for flight again, you'll see how many decide not to return. I don't see the picture of t...

They probably are looking for an ex military guy, that matrix almost perfectly fit my flying hours when I retired from the military, a bit over 1000 hornet (MPIC), rest tutor and Hawk (Jet PIC).
They are allowed to look for that if that is what they want.

In order Hornet (This is the only one I will put why, I prefer to fly single pilot, I like to shoot things, I like adrenaline rushes, I personally think guns, bombs and bullets are cool (yep not everyone does), I like speed, I like fighting, and it was the only plane I could go fly and fill my likes...

See the part that says 4000 advance........
He would have got about 3500 take home from that on the first of the month and the 11 700 on the 17th for a total of 15200 take home for the month.

Rookie, why do so many people here think I am anti education just because it is my opinion flying for a living is not exactly up there with brain surgery? Furthermore once one can read and write they can self educate and I feel I did fairly well in that endeavour. In one sentence you just answered ...

@sicamore Oh, and do things without permits? You must live in alberta - for the rest of us canadians we need a permit to sneeze. I have never lived in such an over regulated country in my life. Proving you do not know much about Canada. It is completely legal in Ontario (and all the other provinces ...

Re: Air Canada "haute cuisine" and incidence of Crew diarrhea?
Dude, over the last 6 years I have eaten a lot of AC crew meals. Have never felt the least bit sick. Might not be my favourite food but I have no more worry about it making me sick than eating at any airport restaurant.
I think you may be trolling.
