Re: ATPL Application process tips
Perhaps this needs a new topic started, but it was open to 30 days of consultation when it was published in the Gazette I. I can't seem to find a timeline after that 30 days has passed, but it's the final step before publication in the Gazette II. They provide a link to submit feedback to the DOT, p...

Re: ATPL Application process tips
Didn't see this mentioned, just appeared in the Gazette last week (Feb 23, 2013). Should come into for 60 days from then. — repeal section 401.10 so as to allow the Minister to credit the holder of a pilot licence for 100% of co-pilot flight time towards the total flight time required for the issuan...

I was 13 months from first PPC ride to 1000TT, although there was a gap of about 6 months between CPL and my first job.

Re: R.I.P - Paul Laserich
The news definitely came as a shock. Paul's generosity through scholarships many years in a row is in part what got to me where I am today. You could stop him any time of day in his hanger and he was always more than glad to share stories about all the pictures up on the walls. He turned his hangar,...

The new Dornier 228? It's going for less than 7 million, but no stand up head room I guess.

Re: Online VNCs for flight planning
A digital format of any of their publications would be an asset to everyone. it would help me out tremendously in the flight planning process being able to quickly reference the CFS, CAP's, and LO charts right from my computer without having to dig out paper copies. I would pay for software/site acc...

High level formation over YZF?
Anyone else see this today and know what was going on? Looked to be a four engine jet in the middle, with six smaller ones around it.

Re: Captain Requirement Question
Is the Metro 3 (SW3) technically a high performance aircraft, allowing the holder of a CPL and an appropriate rating to sit in the left seat? Not saying it's necessarily a good idea...but it could happen.

Re: Are pilots still being hired directly from Flight School
Jazz sponsors an award for college grads. Someone mentioned the association earlier that most are part of. As for how the students that get chosen are picked, its up to the individual colleges to selected them. selkirk sent two this past spring, I'm pretty sure confed sent some too. There was about ...

So i just finished reading this thread http://www.avcanada.ca/forums2/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=67422 and figured I could do my part and maybe help turn this thread around. I was hired on at one of the companies original stated on the first page of this post, and have to say I am overall pleased with my ...

The college program is definitely still happening, seeing as I'm in Toronto right now as part of it. Will anything come of it? I doubt it, I've been applying like crazy trying to find a job elsewhere. I do have no real world experience, so no, I won't be a good fit in an airline at this point, but t...

Out of curiosity, I counted the items on the checklist from before start to shutdown at the ftu I did my multi at. and by the looks of it, its giving the OP a run for his money. This one is sitting at 125, for a twin beech. Yes, a lot of it is redundant beyond belief, but a lot of it is also things ...

Re: Multi Rating
I did mine, including flight test, in just over eight hours. My only flying experience prior to this was just over 100 hours in a 172. By the end of my multi-training, I was extremely comfortable in the plane and had no problems with the flight test. I did, however, spend many hours going over the c...
