Re: Known Ice PA31 Navajo?
Having owned just about every Navajo model out there P models were my favorite, I've owned 2 of them. the P is still a Great buy in terms of value for the money and had no major issues with them. Cost wise, no more $$ maintenance than a cheyenne I or comparable pressurized twin. Nothing wrong with a...

Re: Career Change or Just for Fun?
Hindsight will prove 20/20 - you won't know until you make a choice and live with it for 10+ years. Canada is a difficult market to advance in Aviation, even less realistic if you have a wife and kid. Many of my friends went to USA in the early 90's to get their license & instructors ratings (cheap)...

Insurance - how to find out who it's with
Is it possible to find out who a commercially registered aircraft in Canada is insured with, without talking to owner ? Essentially we supplied an operator with $35K equipment for an aicraft, and operator crashed the aircraft soon after and refused to pay for equipment (no...not cause of crash) . I'...

Re: Shock Cooling
I've got time on the p model too.. I actually quite like the little rascal..lol on the fuel flows...I could never get them near what the book claimed even in cruise. Never had a problem with cylanders. Flew one engine 200 by TBO and it worked just fine until the case cracked. A "P" is the best valu...

Re: Shock Cooling
I've owned both PA31 & PA31P's I paid particular attention in high altitude descents on the P, but still managed to crack two cylinders over time. Both were found by regular inspection. Both cracks were right around the fuel injector!, pretty much in my mind the crack hazard is indeed mixture relate...

Yup, it's really funny. PA31P which is identical in many ways to a Cheyenne I. but yet I'm not required to have a POC or be a member of CBAA. There's no difference in performance, risk and insurance on my PA31P vs a PA31T ??.............except for...yup...the fuel type :) and few bucks more in my po...

Heck, with any luck you'll have your paperless cockpit @ about year 2020...........and maybe...just maybe you will have that same data on your portable GPS. My vote is that Transport Canada sets a mandate and contracts the whole sjabang out to Jepp. ----------------------- Thank you for contacting N...

Ya , so I happen to own a plane that's over 3 tonnes. so every time I squeeze the mic trigger I get charged $43 per day. they provide very little or no explanation why I get charged but a 172 does not. private airplane, same blib on radar. As soon as I do a position report to accomodate traffic flow...

Did some private flying in Greece few months ago. for private flights my passengers had to go through terminal and security screening, after which they were dropped of at the Navajo.
As there was commercial traffic at airport that was the rule.

Re: Aztec down at CYFD
Runway 29 is the shorty (2600ft) little room to come back down on that runway after a problem with a twin, so yeah cornfield it is if you really have to come down. If it's parked outside the cause is problably weed growth & pollen blocked intake..... as the weeds & grass often grow 2-3ft high...

Re: Flight Following
Good example is Dynamic Aviation's King Air A90 that went down in Amazon last november (2008). Shows you can't have enough real-time flight following information. Essentially they know 20 minutes after last (GPS) contact it went down. Aircraft not found to this date. ...and that is only 20 minutes. ...

I Don't use the WX feature on the ATC , but airspace data is there for Canada now since a month ago, used the ATC on various flights and works good, except when flying faster then 225KTS it's not happy (Known issue with the unit & no fix coming) Also, there is a new version released of their softwar...
