Bit of a weird question. How do Canadian companies operate in other countries under a canadian OC? Do they have to have a Base in Canada and an "outpost" in other countries or can they just be Canadian Registered Aircraft and Canadian licenced pilots headquartered in any location? Are there any Rest...

Re: Insurance on student owned plane used for flight training.
Did my licence the same way. Used AON as my insurance broker. Made it really simple and it was cheap. Went outside a FTU for my private licence and went to a FTU for my commercial. never had to add the FTU as insured the policy simply stated a qualified instructor for the purpose of instructing the ...

Re: Oops - bad idea?
Wait for days to go up to around -15 and then make the shutdown as breif as possible. Nothing below 2000AGL. The guys dont enjoy doing it but as it is a requirement they do it once. I dont think they ever got into a pissing match with TC but by the sounds of things they can get rid of it if they pus...

Re: Oops - bad idea?
Did my multi in Winnipeg in January and we didnt fly when it was below -28. No shut down in real cold weather. Didnt even go to zero thrust on some of the days to avoid super cooling the engine.

Re: 206 float rating
I will give them a call and see if training on their own aircraft is an option. As you said it would be ideal. Only problem I see would be that their 206 will be running steady once the spring break up happens. However I will still check in and see if the conflict will create issues for them. I thin...

Re: 206 float rating
I have been trying to do something extreme to attract attention but to no avail. I spent the last two months in East Africa looking for some work. Took my wife and two kids down there and dug myself an even bigger hole but did sniff out some great contacts. Next im going to try and stop by every flo...

Re: 206 float rating
Actually I need to rid myself of the evil money I have left over after my CPL. I need some 206 time to secure a position. The float rating about covers it.

Re: Buying your own plane to train in?
Was going to have to sell the house to go find a job anyway. Didnt care much for the place. Not much bigger than an apartment. I tried to sell the wife and kids. No takers. The job made sure I could only fly weekends and evenings...if the weather was good and I didnt get called in. Made my decisions...

Re: Buying your own plane to train in?
I bought a cherokee in NOv 06 when i had "zero" yup zero flying time. Things have worked out very well for me. The engine had low time, prop was good, insurance cheap. I worked full time and trained part time. Took me untill july of 08 to get my private. Not fast enough for me so I quit my job in se...
