Re: The Canadian Tax System Explained - In Beer

Have you ever called a call centre for Bell, Rogers, or any sort of Tech support? What country did you get? Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas, where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier. Niss - No Be...

The Canadian Tax System Explained - In Beer

THE TAX SYSTEM EXPLAINED IN BEER Suppose that every day, ten men go out for beer and the bill for all ten comes to $100... If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this... The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would ...

Re: Conservatives to scrap the Long Gun Registry

In the military I was required to sign out, and be wholly responsible for every weapon I used from a 7mm popgun to a supersonic jet. This was despite the fact I was not authorized, and had no intention of actually harming anybody with it. Do you think the military makes the same bluntly stupid dist...

And this one little thread shows the arguement that Association of Proffesional Pilots < College of Physicians especially since pilots are supposed to be able to do simple math. (hows that for stirring the pot) P.S - Order of Operations is Grade 4 math - are you smarter than a 10 year old?

Re: Conservatives to Scrap Gun Regi$try

What they fail to tell you is that of those deaths from registered long guns were mostly from suicides. The long gun registry is a joke and always will be. The Liberals have been very successful in scaring women and capturing their vote so points to them! There are nearly 7 million registered long-...

Re: Conservatives to Scrap Gun Regi$try

For those that are interested in some real numbers regarding the LGR. The Long-Gun Registry: Costs and Crime Statistics Costs ■In 1995, the previous government told Parliament that the firearms program, most specifically the long-gun registry, would involve a net cost of just $2 million (Auditor Gen...

Re: Conservatives to Scrap Gun Regi$try

A firearm registry restricts the sale of "legal" firearms to the criminal element by making the l egal owner of the firearm responsible for that registered firearm. Without a registry what risk would there be from a buying a bunch of 18" non-restricted shotguns and/or semi-automatic M14 rifles from...

Re: Conservatives to Scrap Gun Regi$try

Well, I think we are starting to get circular here. Rockie, you don't own a gun, that's fine. You may or may not agree with the following statement. But in reality.... With Firearms..........Registration leads to confiscation.....always has, always will. And we have allready seen it in Canada. Canad...

Re: Conservatives to Scrap Gun Regi$try

It's funny, but that Angus Reid poll "out last week" is cited in articles ranging in date from August 2010 to January 2011. I searched the Angus Reid site and only came up with this poll which doesn't mention police officers at all. I think there may be a little bit of misinformation (read bullshit...

Here is a response to the RCMP report. I hate cutting and pasting but it makes no sense to retype all this. I will hilite some main points I would like to put forward. Re: Conservatives to Scrap Gun Regi$try

Rank and file police members report that they do not find the registry useful. In approaching dangerous situations, the police must always assume there is a weapon. The long-gun registry does not contain information on a gun's location. The registry only contains descriptive information about the r...

Re: Conservatives to Scrap Gun Regi$try

You missed out the worst part about C-68, the search and seizure section. Even if one does agree with the Gun registry, that bit is of concern for all Canadians. Well, I didn't exactly miss it. But I didn't want to bring one more thing into this discussion. But you are right, search and seizure (wi...

Re: Conservatives to Scrap Gun Regi$try

One particular activity that occupies a lot of police time is domestic disturbance calls. The gun registry is consulted each and every time because what it reveals changes the way the call is responded to. How many domestic calls have been prevented from spinning out of control because of the diffe...
