Wrote SAMRA a few days ago (#14). Pretty straight forward and not overly complicated. Saron was done a little while ago also. Aerocourse books are great and helped a lot.

Re: GGN YYZ 1900 to Cease Operation
I have no knowledge of the above and it might just simply be a coincidence that they cancelled the 1900 ground school that was supposed to start this month. If it's true, I wish them well and hope things work out for the guys and gals there.
best of luck.
best of luck.

Re: Exce$$ive ground briefings
When it's a dual flight and the exercise is range and endurance and I ask you what is range, only to be told how far you can see...you no longer qualified for a .1. For solo flights I don't charge a briefing time for the time I spend with you prior. This time is spent on asking the student procedure...

“Not the hotel business OYR. But for perspective AGL is audited by AC, IATA and TC. Not sure if you have ever been through an IATA audit .... but .... oh wait I know you haven't. Not really the way it works.” You’re right about me never going through an IATA audit. It sure is interesting how the aud...

I guess TC will now monitor the maintenance more carefully instead of just relying on what they are told by the company.

Re: Georgian Sim Eval
The eval is pretty straight forward and the instructor is an awesome guy. You're given a script and once you've got it memorized, you shouldn't have any issues as to what you're supposed to do. Like I said, the instructor on my eval was awesome and it really helped me relaxed as I've never done a si...

Re: Confederation or Sault College Graduates and Current Students
I'm a confed grad and pigboat makes some good points. Yes Sault is a 3 year program but you get a multi ifr which if you go to Confed will cost you some more cash after you graduate. Now with the single ifr you can apply to wasaya, air bravo or ornge but do check the requirements. You'll finish a ye...

Re: GGN Interview Questions
Thanks for your reply...valuable info. I assume you're sent some basic info on the sim before going on the eval especially for those that's never flown a 1900 before. Do they cut you any slack in the sim based on having zero experience on sim and ac?

GGN Interview Questions
Gonna be sending in a resume and was wondering what sort of technical/HR questions gets asked. Also any info on the sim eval would also be appreciated. I'm aware of all the posts here regarding GGN but would like to hear from guys/gals who are currently there or had interviews recently. If you'd pre...

Re: Good flight school in canada for integrated pilot course.
If you decide to use the search function, try searching superchargedRS and you'll see why he shouldn't be taken seriously. My advice is to contact the schools and see if they fit what you are looking for. I can speak for Brampton and say they are an excellent school. Their Chief Pilot Scott is an aw...

Re: Starting my Instructors Rating Tomorrow...
Gannet167 post is very insightful and addresses the many aspects of being an instructor. As a new class 4 myself, I'd like to share a few things I was taught and some I've learned along the way. 1. A class 4 rating doesn't entail you know it all. * You will learn more about flying being an instructo...

Air Georgian mentor program
I've check on their website but not a lot of information is available. Apart from a flow chart and a few testimonials from pilots who took part in this program; information is limited. I've tried calling HR and I have to say, I've never found it so difficult to get a hold of someone. With that said,...

Re: "Confederation College grounds float plane program" - CB
I'm amazed the "flying Dutch man" is still chair of the program. I wonder if anyone at the college is questioning his decision making. How will they do an ils to mins in a 172 while a Q400 is behind. I'd love to hear what the British fella in the tower has to say. Why don't they scrap the winter sur...

Re: "Confederation College grounds float plane program" - CB
I wonder if they had to consult with the ministry regarding the change due to being subsidized or, was it a matter of ... Here is your funding... do what you want as long as you don't over spend. Extending the length of the program would probably put them over the budget. I curious to know if the pr...

Re: Confederation College, Thunder Bay
Sampson, try calling admissions and find out where on the wait list you are sitting. If someone decides not to accept their offer, they go to those on the wait list starting with the person at the top of said list. You might be in luck seeing as how there will be no floats. It might be a deal breake...

Re: Confederation College, Thunder Bay
I'm disappointed to hear about the suspension of the float program. I thoroughly enjoyed my float training and it undoubtedly made me a better pilot by improving my "hands and feet skill" and my PDM skills. I will always remember my time spent with Mr. Andy Hay in QNN. His knowledge of float flying ...

Recommendation of instructor
Hey folks, looking to complete my instructor rating and I've narrowed it down to two schools. Brampton and buttonville are my two options with me leaning more towards Brampton. I'm wondering if anyone has favourable things to say about a specific guy/gal. Ideally, I'm looking to finish in a month......

Firstly I'd like to extend my sympathies to the families of these two men. Secondly I'd like to address one of the baffling rule about the GCAA. After an investigation into an accident, the report isn't made public (see Caribbean Airlines crash). How on earth are we supposed to understand contributi...

After all is said and done, if Millard is found guilty; his assets should be seized and auctioned with the proceeds going to the two year old left fatherless. I say IF, due to the fact he could clearly afford a newer/better truck. His personal worth begs the question why. The proceeds should go to t...

I actually saw the AC and WJ aircraft initiate their go around and it wasn't out of the ordinary. The AC airplane was a bit closer to the runway and made its right turn. Westjet's airplane was higher and turned left overhead FedEx. The wind at the time was substantial and I believe there is some kin...

Judge sums it up perfectly. I am currently a student at confed. and I can attest to the volume of information that's thrown at you. It's like trying to drink water out of a fire hose. Every program will have their pros and cons but you just have to suck it up and put the work in. I wrote the pre fin...
