Re: Bahamas Trip!

I wouldn't recommend Bimini unless you have a specific reason to visit that island. Its proximity to Miami has turned it into a bit of a zoo, and there is nothing to see within walking distance from the runway. Great Harbour Cay would be much nicer and laid back port of entry. Beautiful beach with a...

Re: Flying to Cuba

It is a communist country and they have had a shoot first answer questions later policy in years past (C337 shot down by a mig). That is not a fair statement. The C337 you mention was flown by exiled Cubans from South Florida and was actively engaged in dropping anti-Castro leaflets during precedin...

Re: Vne vs. Vmo

Vmo is based on TAS and so the indicated value of it decreases with altitude. This is incorrect. Vmo is an indicated airspeed and generally constant with altitude until Mmo becomes the limit. There were times where Vmo was expressed in EAS so you had a small change with altitude, but nowadays every...

Re: Vne vs. Vmo

Pilot DAR is a test pilot, he is allowed to deal with close shaved barber poles (although poles expats are mostly known as plumbers, there are barber poles as well). This reminds me of Henry Fonda barber scene in my name is nobody, same deal.

Re: Vne vs. Vmo

The Bristol instructor quote is confused. Vmo and Vne have the same meaning. You do not have a Vne after a Vmo because you must never exceed Vmo. I have never seen Mne, I don't think it exists in regulations. Vne is indeed associated with piston planes and Vmo with turbines (including turboprops). V...

Re: Hawker 800 with API Winglets SB

Scary video. I've seen this before but with test pilots wearing parachutes.

Loading up the wing can make things worse in case of flutter because this speeds up the airflow on top of the wing, so don't try that.

In case of flutter, chop throttle to idle immediately, straight and level.

I like it too! Once you've flown in the 705, flying again the CRJ200 is like a punishment.
What I like most about the 705 is that it brings business class seats on regional routes (I'm upgrading with the passes).

tell the customs that you want to withdraw your application to enter. That doesn't work. They told me it would s...

Salut la gang. Je me présente, PPL 200 hrs, travaille sur mon IFR présentement. Peut-être que je ferai mon prof. pour le fun mais piloter ne sera pas mon métier (ingénieur aéro).
