Re: LOOKING FOR COMPANY TO GET PIC TIME FOR ATPL
You can get a 705 FO position without an ATPL. I just have an ATPL Frozen. Does your license say 'Airline Transport Pilot' on it, or does it say 'Commercial Pilot' ? You left a bit of gray back there… Assuming a CPL holder also has a valid IATRA then yes the candidate could potentially crew a 705 p...

Re: Any plans for Socialized bidding?
Ya sorry thats going to be a hard no from most of us here (except maybe the one FOAG guy that keeps talking about it). We didnt sit around for a year and a half during Covid - thinking we’d be getting our jobs back “in a few more weeks” - to start spreading love (socialized bidding) with people tha...

Re: Flight Training - Criminal Record
You didn’t get charged or convicted? The police may keep a record of detaining you but that won’t show up in a record check.
Unless you’re omitting something… good to go as far as I can see!
Good luck,
TPC

Re: "VALID" Group 1 IFR rating ( inlusive of the IPC - instrument proficiency check)
Quick question and direction, finished all my IPC training and next is the “flight test”. Just got hired by an operator flying twins and they’re going to be training me for the PPC on their aircraft (12.500 and under). Should I spend the hundreds on getting the IPC at the school where I finished th...

15 million saved? In 25 years? You'd have to sock away/have your investments perform to a tune of an average of $600,000/yr in accumulation. That doesn't sound realistic. I’ve a few friends currently at EK and 15 M doesn’t sound too outrageous with compound interest and if a very aggressively well ...

Very sad indeed. Vincent had an absolute love for GA. Like beyond passionate about GA! I’d never met anyone so passionate about flying in general until I met him nearly 15 years ago. He flew his own aircraft to countless fly ins, maintained his own radio band and just talking shop about flying in ge...

Am I missing something here? Isn’t AC sitting on $10.5 billion in debt? I’m sure you’ll give me some crafty lingo why AC’s debt is fine, but the competitors are one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. https://companiesmarketcap.com/air-canada/total-debt/#:~:text=Total%20debt%20...

What is your power management technique on the 985 when you’re at your destination? Do you start reducing 3-4 miles out? 2 miles out from the downwind, I start backing off the power slowly… the mix was leaned and carb heat set into the green so slowly start moving the mix knob forward and gradually...

Re: ATC Failure - Alaska Airlines - Horrible ATC service
I believe you guys are making a mountain out of a mole hill. I’ve had to declare an emergency twice with US ATC. Both times the sheer mention of “stoping climb 2XX requesting block XXX declaring an emergency at this time” *Poof* Dedicated controller, gave them POB, fuel and in both cases no DG’s. R...

Re: Is Rise Air in need of a new HR manager?
Seems like a typo after a copy paste of a job ad. Not really something to fire an HR manager over, no? Perhaps not although if I was overseeing this person’s position I wouldn’t be impressed. Cut and paste… the definition of lazy. What could be worse? Not proof reading it! Your HR is the front line...

750px.png One of SouthWests 737s is down for maintenance checks and they found this fatigue crack in one of the seats used for this new policy. Brings up the question of crashworthiness; What weight are the seats and their anchor points rated to? If the pax in them is to heavy and the anchor points...

I remember we had an aircraft to flights after a tailstrike. Best to do a more thorough than usual walkaround after a hard or unusual landing...... Re: Thunder Airlines MU2 accident in Wawa
Given in the TSB occurrence report, the snow was not removed and the airport operator could not be reached, I’m going to guess there was no runway friction report, certainly not a current one. The TSB occurrence report your referring to is from another Thunder accident years ago… CFRI in Wawa? Ha. ...

Re: Corporate Captain or Airline FO?
I’ve been in this business for 30 years. If you are flip flopping on corporate or airline, go airline now. The hiring frenzy is not gonna go on forever and you’ll want to secure your seniority number as soon as possible for when the slowdown comes. It’s easier to go corporate afterwards if you don’...

Re: Ran out of Gas/Fuel Mismanagement Thread
From TSB.... C-GCGX, a privately registered float-equipped Cessna A185F aircraft was conducting a post- maintenance test flight from Gods Lake, MB, approximately 3 nm east of Gods Lake Narrows Airport (CYGO), MB. The aircraft was being operated on the left fuel tank only due to minimum fuel. While ...

Re: Telemedicine medical question
Renewed my CAT1 today via telemedicine. Easy peasy. I found it ironic given this thread that my CAME reminded me to carry a copy (not glue/tape/laminate) of the renewal that he later emailed me. “Can I just keep an e-copy of the renewal in lieu of the paper copy like I have since we last met?” *laug...
