Re: License Booklet question...
TC will not issue medical stickers. Same thing happen to me, called TC and they told me to carry both until the next one or to go get it stamped. Got the TC bill for the med nearly 9 months after the exam, lazy doc! Toronto office did for me quite happily.... That was a year or two ago though (lice...

Re: License Booklet question...
Call the TC office that your medical paperwork was sent to... Explain the situation, and they'll be able to issue a medical sticker once your medical paperwork is done (sometimes takes 6 months before the CAME report is reviewed by a TC doctor). If you're nice and they're in an accommodating mood, t...

Re: First glider lessons
I am learning on a PW-6U which is a proper sailplane with a total energy audio variometer and a 34 to 1 glide ratio. On my first flight we did some thermaling although there was not a lot of lift (0.5 to 1 1/2 kt) so it was a good challenge and demanded accurate flying........ and plenty of coachin...

Re: New license booklet
That's unfortunate! One thing to watch for with the renewal (not suggesting this was the case in this instance, may well have been on the TC side), is that there are two different sets of forms... One is for reissue of a licence booklet - ie, if it goes through the wash and needs to be replaced. The...

Re: $425 for a 30 min intro flight?
The cost structure with these Groupon-like deals is that Groupon takes half of the "deal" price as profit. So the vendor is left with 50% of the "deal" price. In this case, FutureAir is getting $84.50 for the 1/2 hr flight which is what they would normally make. This. Not suggesting that $169 is re...

Re: Aviation Document Booklet - Expiration
One critical thing I haven't seen mentioned in this thread is medical validity when getting a replacement booklet issued ... I know this only because my ADB seems to find itself in the wash once a year (don't ask). Basically, when you get your medical renewed, proof of that is the stamp the CAME put...

Re: Accident in YRL? Tonight?
Terrible news. I was checking the weather and saw the SPECI with the accident note earlier... was concerned but saw no other news, until a friend alerted me just now. Awful to hear it's Bearskin (or anyone, for that matter). Thoughts and well wishes to the survivors and all families of those involve...

What surprises me is the apparent number of people standing near the runway watching/filming, and yet nobody has a handheld to shout "gear!" on it. Funny, I did just that at Port Alberni last year.... sitting around with a few folks with a glider and tow plane in the air, and a Glasair that looked ...

Cheap, reliable, fuel efficient, and big enough to fit you and your stuff.
Personally, I chose a Saab...and now have a second one. Though, in retrospect, that probably wasn't a wise choice...

BEDBUGS Put all of your stuff (bags etc..) in the bathtub before you step any further into the room. Then, strip the bed(s) and make a thorough inspection of the frame, boxspring, and mattress. Do the same to the chest of drawers before you use them. You do not want those little buggers getting a r...

I am sorry to hear this terrible news. I did a tow checkout on Rudy's Citabria 3 years ago and flew gliders and tow planes in BC for 3 summers for a different operator. Followed the news of the Stemme on it's acquisition last year, then heard this news today. Terrible thing to hear. Condolences to t...

Why would it be too late? If you don't remember much of the theory odds and ends for the PPL, probably a good time to refresh it anyway. The more you go over things, the more they come back, and the easier they are. Also, having to instruct others forces you to understand the content you're deliveri...

I have never posted in one of these threads, and I have never met any of the people involved, yet I find myself checking back every half hour or so to see if there are any updates. I mean.... it's not BAD, for a startup. It's just....NOT American Airlines. Old livery was distinctive and quite nice. The new one, while not that objectionable, is also quite dull and generic.

Not aviation specific, but possibly worth a look for some of what you're looking for: www.prontoforms.com. Basically, create your own forms to be filled in and submitted from a mobile device, and sent to you via email, integrated into backend system, etc. I've worked for the company for the last two...

Maybe they should add a jet pump disassembly and cleaning every so many hours to the maint requirements. I've seen this before - and I've also never seen a requirement to clean them. From the report (my emphasis): -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------...
