Re: An interesting letter from Qatar Airways' Akbar Al Baker
Your thoughts? WTF is it with Europeans and their double-barreled last names? Feminist wives wanting to keep their maiden name. Its a widespread virus in married couples here since the 70s/80s... To the article. The author is right that a prosperous aviation industry also needs the support of polit...

Re: Antonov AN-2
(Col Sanders I consider Your last comment in Your last paragraph a little bit...inappropriate)
Back to topic:
You probably know about this website: AN-2 owners and friends in the USA . Lots of info. And Your C-FAKA is listed there under "for sale"
as well.

Re: Antonov AN-2
These russian planes were designed to operate in similiar weather and climate like You have there in Your canadian north. STOL capable. Should be the ideal plane for Your winter STOL bush flying operations. Maybe fuel costs don't make them economically reliable though. I wonder why You don't have mo...

Re: Antonov AN-2
There are several flying in Europe here and You can get them quite cheap. I flew in one as a passenger on a scenic flight and talked to the pilot. These beasts suck AVgas like crazy, like 600/700l / hour in full power take-off setting and about 300liter/h during cruise. Many operators here have the ...

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
On the Canadian aircraft register there are 13 C-54s registered with Buffalo. Are they all airworthy and in flying condition? Or are they stored/parked and supply parts?
How many are actually really flying?

Re: Ice Pilots - Season 3
My condolences to all McBryans! Looks like You Canadians hit a winning streak with all these "Ice"-Shows! :) I just learned about this new upcoming canadian TV show "Arctic Air". Is this a new fictional action series based on the adventures of Buffalo Air? With more scripted and condensed action, dr...

Re: Canada, USA or Europe?
Flight training and private flying is very expensive in Germany.
I think Canada is a much better place for flight training.

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
Hi Jeremy, I'm from Germany, PPL student and I enjoy watching the show! Wasn't easy to find the episodes on the Internet though... Questions: -How did the filming and now airing of the show change daily life at Buffalos? -Were many scenes staged and made-up for action or drama? Were there employes w...

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
Hi, I enjoy watching the show and I like the idea that old classic airplanes are not just flown at Air Shows occasionally but still doing regular work. From the show it looks like these old radial engines have a lot of hiccups and problems these days though and require quite a lot of maintenance... ...

FAA vs. Canadian PPL?
Hi, I'm from Europe and I would like to visit the north american continent and combine it with PPL training for private flying. So my question is: 1. Is there a big difference in the PPL training syllabus between the US-FAA-PPL and the canadian PPL? 2. Are there any training and license related reas...

Re: The best airplane for tail wheel training?
Hi everybody! In my opinion the problem is to find a flight school nowadays that offers ab inito tail wheel training at all! I'm from Europe and thinking about doing my PPL in Canada. Would love to do it on a tailwheel plane right from the beginning! But...where could I do that? So far I only learne...
