Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Thank you altiplano, you've answered my questions more than once, I appreciate it. Just as CAL I'll keep a look every now and then, specially the upcoming months, to see if that PML actually has dried out and the vacancy opens.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Quick question, all this movement going on is for those who managed to submit their online application when the vacancy was open in the careers section at AC's website several months ago if not last year, correct? I've been checking it for the past few months and have yet to see open pilot vacancies...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
dbob, I apologize if you were referring to my questions regarding seniority determination and equipment pick order. I believe that information is as important as the hiring process itself. For the colleague that got turned down... aviation is like that, hardly all will go as planned. You reach a poi...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Thank you aV1aTOr, B777guy, and altiplano for your informative answers. Please confirm if I understood correctly. There is a draw to determine pick order to choose equipment only in case there are vacancies on more than one type, correct? So once hired, you never know what you will fly until this ra...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Is the equipment assigned for new hires at AC always on the A320/E190? Or it's assigned on a per company need basis?
What if an OTS candidate is currently flying a wide body that AC also operates? Would this be considered as a plus? Thanks.

Re: Pilot Mobility Agreement
@fish4life, thank you for the quick answer. This is what I thought too. So in the case OTS also means candidates that are in a situation like mine, it seems the best idea would be to stay abroad and wait for command to get PIC time in order to be competitive enough. Then, switch to AC accepting a po...

Re: Pilot Mobility Agreement
Thanks for the information shared. What would be the most likely path to get hired by AC if I've had so far a career flying abroad? Just like the OP, I always wondered where the other 20% came from but considering what has been posted here, that 20% OTS apparently refers to pilots flying for other r...

Re: Jazz or Porter?
I was only familiar with Westjet. I didn't know they had a subsidiary wholly owned by them. I checked the requirements for Encore and I do meet their requirements. Encore, Jazz, Sky, and Air Georgian seem to be the ones I should be aiming for, and having researched a little about them so far they ha...

Thank you for the info, fish4life.
I will consider Jazz then. I've also found out Air Georgian and AirSprint as options that would more or less suit my time. I'd appreciate further feedback.

Re: Jazz or Porter?
Not really on topic but would either of these, Jazz or Porter, consider a pilot with 5000 total of which 4500 is on Airbus? I've considered moving back to Canada after building my entire aviation career abroad so far, with the exception of the initial training. As for AC, I understand there is an ag...

Re: Is There Movement?
Yea, good advice Phileas, thanks.
I´m saving money for a car to do a roadtrip, or maybe rent one of the planes at the flight school and fly up there to them. Sending CV´s and phone really doesn´t cut it at all, specially during these times.

It´s good to see someone writing motivating things, just like tons-o-fun did. I´m an under 500tt pilot and haven´t been able to get my first break. Unfortunately I don´t know many people in the industry in Canada so my networking is pretty poor, and this was because I was out of the country for abou...

I know many started out similar to me - got into this business with zero connections, no internet job ads and very little options available to break in and get some experience. Sure do the road trip, pound the pavement, the telephone, try try try - but in the end very few will succeed with a quick ...

Man, quit being like that. I haven't even reached 300TT and I don't have an instructor rating. I have other things though, but guess what, it's been almost a year for me without getting my first job. An hey, I've done my homework and applied everywhere. Times are just not right at the moment, but th...

As far I've researched, they only operate floats though, right?
So for someone without the float rating, it wouldn't be convenient would it?
I haven't applied because of that.

I don't post much but I can finally say I had my first phone interview with them. The conversation was very straight forward and everything I've been able to research about the company is good. I was able to answer questions as well as making them. I felt very well treated and I am eager to get star...

I just read the requirements on the official webiste.
How much better are the odds for being hired if you posses a second language (Spanish) and have some international flying experience (South America)? Considering I´m a low timer of course, 300TT.
Thanks,

Good timing to get Instructor Rating?
Hey, I read the forum employment section a lot. Don't really post much though. I've spoken with several guys here who have helped me very much. Long story short; did my training in Canada, went back to home country, no jobs, came back after a year and a half, now trying to get a job here as well. I ...
