Re: Best & Worst Paid Jobs in the World
Well, if you figure a "pole dance" can have a shelf life from say 20 to 35 conservatively. Thats 15 years of good money work. If she/he was to wisely live a modest life and invest they're maximum into RRSP's, TFSA, Real estate...etc, she/he would be able to easily retire at 35 to 40 and continue to ...

Kawartha lakes area taildragger rental
Hi Folks,
I'm just wondering if there is anywhere in the Kawartha Lakes area to rent a small tail dragger, or float plane?

Re: What amount of money would bring you to a reserve to fly
I guess I'd rather miss out on all of that fun than miss my kids growing up, being home at night. Being able to make plans more than 2 days in advance is also a nice luxury, not to mention having good health benefits for my family and a decent pension package. These are all things that make up the g...

Re: What amount of money would bring you to a reserve to fly
The reason I got out of flying is because the salaries have been stagnant if not declined over the last twenty years. The future of aviation in my eyes isn't very bright. I wish I had listened to all of old crusty pilots when I was younger that said to "get a good job that pays well with decent time...

I second Sudbury Aviation. Getting a rating in a Beaver might be cool, but for the around the same price, I think 20 hours in a small cessna would look better on a resume than 7 hours in a beaver...

This industry is full of whores and rich kids, Thats why im leaving. I want to spend time with my kids and have a pension to look forward to, not to mention decent pay. I really don't understand why people accept absolute shit wages and degrading lifestyle to eventually make 100k plus when they're 5...

how many beavers did art fecteau have at once? I heard from an old timer that he completely stripped and re painted his beavers after every season.

I think in some places the government has allowed people to buy their " shoreline allowance " ... I'm not entirely sure what the is or means.. but it's worth looking into.

Re: Fellow chief pilots, DFO's and HR people
I wasnt implying that i shit on low timers. All i was saying is, why would i send a pfo to a guy looking for a FO turbine gig, when we fly single engine seaplanes, its obvious this person put no thought or attention into who they were targeting and like other posters said, carpet bombed as many comp...

Re: most popular float trainer?
i guess i'd rather teach proper engine handling to students and just do that kind of training in a real environment. If a person gets a reputation as being rough on airplanes, their employability goes down the shitter pretty quick. but hey, what do i know.

I can understand a reply if there is an advertised position open. We just don't have the time to answer. I will however, answer a genuine person that wants this job and has done a little bit of research. If i can tell the resume is just a generic POS fired off to every company in the western hemisph...

Re: most popular float trainer?
most 172's dont have cowl flaps or a constant speed prop except the hawk xp, the 150hp standard 172's are better trainers due to the low power to weight ratio. i dont understand why people think they need to learn on a 180, its just another cessna. on another note, the reduced power take off is not ...

Re: most popular float trainer?
i disagree, in my opinion, the cub is easier and more forgiving to fly on floats then the 172. The type of plane you learn on means sweet @#$! all, the instructor on the other hand, is by far more important.
