Tactile Transducers

I was told by someone that these make the ultimate FSX experience as they feel 'vibrations'. He went on to explain that by putting this device underneath your 'office chair' while playing Flight Simulator X, you can 'feel' the gears go up and down (say you're flying a retractable). Has anyone heard ...

Re: Interesting article on Lead

While I am not David Suzuki, one should realize that there is no safe level of lead. Not trying to be a doctor here or spit out research statistics (I'd suggest the New England Journal of Medicine, which has a nice paper or two if you're interested). As a frequent pilot, we are exposed more than the...

Interesting article on Lead

In Ontario, Canadian officials found air surrounding the Toronto-Buttonville Airport contained 4.2 times more lead than air in other parts of the city. Their report was published 11 years ago. In Chicago, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency reported in 2002 that air monitors downwind from ...

Re: GA Friendly airports in the NYC area

By far, KTEB is the best airport, and Meridian is the best deal out of all of them. You can clear customs, it's convenient, and the service is amazing.

Re: Help! I think I want to start a flight school....

If you are serious, make an appointment with the owner, bring in your accountant (a good one) and go over the books. You may have no experience in starting up a flight school, but money talks at the end of the day; i.e. if I want to buy a gas station, Shell or OLCO says, 'the owner must have prior e...

Re: Looking to purchase/buy into an airframe, or block time.

I'd say do your homework on the aircraft that you wish to buy OR do your homework on the partnership that you'd like to join. The intention is to solve a need, but this can lead to a bigger problem down the road.

Best of luck!

Re: USA Import Export question

i would say re-register with the FAA, and do the flip. it still has the current annual as per FAA regs, so don't see where the problem would be, if you showed the bill of sale. i would recommend he re-register with the FAA, you buy it, make sure no liens are on the aircraft, then do whatever you wan...

Tag Team match? Avblend vs Camguard & Aeroshell Vs Castrol?

From diff websites I'm divided on using avblend or camguard... I replaced a cylinder on my o-200 (2100 hrs, very low compression), and my other cylinders were doing OK. Using Aeroshell w80 in fall, w100plus in summer, mixing it with 15w50..and recently started using Avblend around the 1900 hr mark (...

Re: New Aircraft!!

Thanks Hedley. I've flown it 5x in the past ten days, so not tooo worried about letting it sit. There's an aztec i've seen that looks like it hasn't been touched in many many manyyyy years....it wouldn't even be worth it to repair it. Do you know any good lead scavengers? Other than the Alcor product.

Re: New Aircraft!!

Hey Thanks! Anyone have any experience with the Castrol Aviation oil? I saw their booth at the Hamilton Air Expo, and I'm pondering switching to it from Aeroshell. (mind you costs ARE substantially cheaper...less than $4 a quart)...I currently use Aeroshell and Avblend.

New Aircraft!!

I just acquired a Piper Warrior! Hope to have pics soon after some paint work done on it. Really proud of the buy. :D Anyone have any maintenance tips for this particular aircraft? I have a Cessna 150, so the transition from a Continental to a Lycoming seems overwhelming as there seems to be way mor...

Re: Etihad Airways Cadet Pilot Program

I dunno...I think this "Etihad Captain" character is fake, and I think he wants to cause s*** so no one joins. One of my friends personally visited that part of the world and toured Emirates Aviation College and the Etihad Airways sector, and he had awesome things to say about them. And IMO, if some...

Dead Radio?

So I was at the airport a couple hours ago, and I turned on the radio in my Cessna 150...I could hear myself, and my brother, and it indicated when it was transmitting...but I couldn't hear anyone else...so I shut it down, and tried starting the plane again, and it won't even turn on!! Fuses are goo...
