DHC2 Supercharger (single stage)?
PWR985 SB3 engine: Supercharger is an engine driven single-stage centrifugal type. 1Q: Is the supercharger located upstream from the carburettor (compressing just the air), OR, is it located downstream the carburettor (compressing both fuel and air into the manifold intake)? 2Q: What is meant by sin...

Studying Tips
It's been a while since I hit the books, so I'm asking if any of you have any solid tips on studying. I find that things outside work play too big a role to dedicate say 2 hours consistantly each night.
Any tips?

Instructors; Class 2 upgrade coming up..
It's been sometime since I've instructed, close to two years, but I've passed the AIRAT, and now I am trying to prep for a ride. Specifically - in regard to a PGI ; I could use a bit of a refresher on how to decipher the sequence plans located in the final pages of the FIG. Flight Instructor Guide -...

Re: Beaver Tips
I though the aft baggage you could get 50lbs in a rod tube and I thought the aft baggage was 120lbs? or was that 50 in the tube and 70 on the shelf? :smt100 Rod tube, Shelf? I think that's more used on outpost camp beavers, perhaps to accommodate fishing gear (really i don't know). Some of the beav...

Re: Beaver Tips
How much load can the baggage area take? I heard it was only around 75 pounds or so, but looking at - for example - West Coast Air's website, they say max baggage allowance per passenger is 25 pounds. So, if the beaver is loaded with 5 - 6 passengers, with 25 pounds of bags each, wouldn't the baggag...

Beaver Air Intake
Always been fascinated with the Beaver (pun intended :D ), so I surfed some images on the web. Came across this pic, which shows two air intakes on the bottom. Obviously I haven't been around the DHC2 much, nor have spoken to any pilots about the plane; So, my question is: Which one is the air intak...

Docking with a Current
Learned to fly floats in Ontario, and will be heading out to the west coast in a couple of weeks.
I have yet to be exposed to currents, and was wondering if anyone has some good tips on how to judge and be successful in docking with a current.

Re: First float job in the GTA
Thanks for the info, and Slatts - you're right, after MUCH sifting, I'm able to find some pretty useful info about the industry and what I could expect as a low timer. True, moving out of the GTA isn't a sacrifice, in fact, it would be beneficial to anyone willing to venture out of the "centre of th...

Re: First float job in the GTA
First off - "TOOL" was in reference to being called a "mamas boy" on my initial inquiry - so it's in my right to form an opinion based on North Shlepp's comments. And not everyone is willing to sacrifice his/her soul for their "first job" on floats, because there are many other options in career pat...

Anyone know if there are any float operators in southern ontario that hire low-time guys?
Last summer I've seen a few floatplanes landing at Toronto Island's Airport - and I was wondering if anyone had any info on some of these companies?
