Re: Bush pilots love Canada Goose jackets?

Great jackets, those Canada Goose. Have the "Resolute" parka and wear it in the arctic religiously. I could go outside in -45C with just a t-shirt underneath and be warm enough in it. Like wearing a fitted sleeping bag. It's also tough, durable and well-thought-out. If I had to "put it down" in the ...

I'd say 98% turnout shows that people have taken interest and are involved. :)

Just need some leadership to bring the members' concerns to the table.

Re: one pilot one voice

OnePilot, A necessity for your web site is be to have someone double check the grammar and spelling before it is posted for the world to see. A quick read of the main page reveals at least 4 mistakes. I'm not trying to be critical but if you want to be viewed as a professional, your presentation mu...

Don't work for AC and don't care what you vote. AC will continue to limp along pissing off passengers and losing buckets of money either way, I'm sure. Well then what the F are you on this site for? You have no vested interest in the employees that these decisions will affect, yet you feel the need...

Re: 65? HAH!!!!

Talking to the young guys, they don't want to vote yes because (only ONE reason) that means they will be the last people with a DB pension plan in a majority of DC plans near the end of their career. And how do you think the vote will go when it comes to scrapping the DB pension early? Is there any ...

Why do people keep saying AC is the only airline to force-retire people?? They don't say that. Air Canada is the only airline to force retire them at 60. Yet... 1. AC is the only airline in North America to force retire their pilots, even after age-based hiring restrictions were declared illegal ov...

Re: Want To Be a Star?

1. AC is the only airline in North America to force retire their pilots, even after age-based hiring restrictions were declared illegal over 30 years ago. Why do people keep saying AC is the only airline to force-retire people?? The only difference with the other airlines is that they force people ...

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!

I guess it wouldn't have been much of a show if they sparked both Electras up and had everything moved before lunch. Most of the stuff was moved out by the other YZF operators actually, with Buffalo Airways called in to clean up the little bits. One day of moving stuff? Those shuttles went on for a...

Re: Federal Court Decision re V-K JR, February 3, 2011

The way I see it, those approaching 60 have seen their salaries and benefits slashed to unconceivable levels. We are ALL going to have to look at the future differently. Of course the younger group understands that salaries have been slashed. To slash, you have to start from levels that were higher...

Re: Federal Court Decision re V-K JR, February 3, 2011

The way I see it, Flypast60 is going to happen eventually. However, those in support, who benefited from years of seeing those above them retire at 60 and have been able to plan their progress through the company by knowing when those above them will retire, are happy about the changes because they ...

Re: Can Canadians work in europe with an ATPL?

What's the ATPL conversion like coming to Canada from Europe? I know the other way around is quite involved, including 14 exams and a sim ride on your type-rated aircraft. To convert when you don't meet the CAA time requirements, you have to take a 6-9 month groundschool and flight-training course a...

Referring to Safelog, isn't that $79 only for 3 years of use? How much is it to renew a subscription after those initial 3 years?

Re: Why in the world???

I find many here are looking in the rear view mirror, rather than navigating. The people doing the navigating are the people who will benefit from the changes in direction, the baby-boomers. They need more pension money? Up the taxes and raise tuition fees! The younger generations have been coping ...

Re: Why in the world???

With the impending passage of legislation to eliminate mandatory retirement for hundreds of thousands of workers in the entire country, does it really matter one iota whether anyone anywhere is for or against the change? If it is going to happen, why not deal with it, rather than cursing it? The yo...

Re: Bones found on Pacific island may belong to Amelia Earha

They have been in existence for 25 years and to date have NOT recovered a single aircraft. Sure they go on "expeditions" but to me that is a far cry from actually recovering an aircraft. They lack serious credibility in my opinion. To announce they have found bone fragments that can be anywhere fro...

Re: Calling taxiing on 126.7 at uncontrolled airports?

As long as you listen on 126.7 after making your call and not jump too quickly to the other frequency, just to get out what you wanted to say quicker. I've seen that all too often. Talk, listen, then talk on other frequency, then listen again. It's not a race to talk the fastest.
