Re: full license on foats
For your PPL, you don't need to do a full spin and CPL you do but for those doing their training on a floatplane, you just do your spin training on a landplane and same as for the CPL flight test. Airhart aviation is one of the only school that teach PPL and CPL on a floatplane, probably because the...

Re: FLOAT RATING SCHOOLS?
My vote is for air-hart in Kelowna as well. If you haven't already done your rating call them, they are great there and care about the students. They have a 172 XP and a 180 but if you can afford the extra cost, go for the 180 as 180 time look better on the resume. If you are looking to get a job in...

Re: Float Rating or bush course?
If you can afford it get the 50 hours. When I had called operators last year, most of them told me it was a good idea to get and that it would give me an advantage. I ended up finishing my commercial and getting the 50 hour course. Having taken the rating first, it teaches you very little. The 50 ho...

Re: what I wished I would have known sooner . . .
Polar one, If you want a job working for a floatplane operation, how can you say the hours are over rated? I am sharing my experience as I had a hard time deciding what to do when building my hours. Well before I finished my training. I called some of the floatplane operators directly and they told ...

what I wished I would have known sooner . . .
Looking back, I now understand but when I went to a landplane school to get get my PPL with the intention of taking my CPL after, I was told to get my PPL and keep building hours with the school. After getting my PPL I burned another 100 hours of so and then was told oh you need this rating and your...

Re: Float operators ins. minimums
I agree with Cessnafloatflyer on trying to get more hours on floats. I took my 50 hour with AIr-Hart in Kelowna early Fall 2008. The instructor, Dave was also his name, and he was great. I had previously done my rating the year before but really thought I needed more hours. Dave was a great instruct...
