Re: New TC Cannabis rules

Whatever mate. It's all there in black and white. You missed my point but that’s ok. It’s my understanding you can use Cocaine and a myriad of other banned drugs and it will be undetectable very shortly thereafter. Which is the joke about having such a hard line on cannabis, including CBD. T...

Re: New TC Cannabis rules

Fair enough. This post is just an FYI for the community. Judge me all you want, I could care less. There are far more damaging stimulus in our society that I won’t get into. “Life is a terminal, sexually transmitted disease.” I think it was Carlin that said that. I’ll update how it goes after my GP ...

Re: New TC Cannabis rules

Just in case this hasn't been posted before. I just got a letter from Transport re: Cannabis Use. I don't fly much anymore (it's been 5+ years since my last flight), flew commercially briefly in 2003-2005 and since changed careers happily after a shot at ATC which didn't work out. A few months back ...

Re: Plane missing in Antarctica

I never flew with Bob, but I did get to know him while working for a competitor on various ramps in the Western Arctic, prior to getting on with Borek (and he helped me with that too).

He was true class. A great loss to the aviation community and mankind.

Godspeed Bob and crew.

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!

The only question that came to my mind, is that if they have an entire fleet of aircraft ( and apparently have access to the caravan that flew in the mechanic ) ... what's up with leaving guys sitting around stranded for 10 days. Is it such a big deal to ferry them home and take them back once the ...

Just be sure to have a thick skin and a strong back. You'll get your face ripped off by management in the first two weeks and every other week after that.

Other than that standard mom and pop operation in the middle of hell.

It'll be "character" building!

Re: MAT

Some valid points here but some obvious lack of knowledge on the current situation. so what is your knowledge about the current situation ?... here is a great advertizing... this CP seems very nice, no ?... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUWYS1mhwrA&NR=1 Good old Dave K., he was an awesome guy to f...

MAT is more or less always looking for FO's, they get them all from 2 places-->locally or more often from Borek. Don't bother applying directly, the chief pilot in Male doesn't do the hiring he just gets Sean to send him more when needed. Of course junior FO's log the time! It's designated 2 crew wh...

I've never heard of paying for a DHC-6 PPC, Borek likes to recruit from its competition.

do they hire you with you're twotter PPC in the pocket, and what does the pay look like... ?  When i was there in 2004 the starting pay for FO's was $1000 CDN from Borek and $1000 US from air taxi, it may have gone up since then. As for the DHC-6 PPC, it'll definitely get you on a hell...

Not alot of time to surf in Male, unless maybe you snag a base crew gig in Kuredu and then you might get to Kite board a bit. Otherwise, you might get out once or twice a week if you're really keen right off Male, in the rank polluted water next to the capital. If you get on you'll fly your bag off ...

It would definitely make it harder, however numerous inside Borek guys from the kingair side have gone down and sit right seat with just a float rating. That being said, it's a whole lot easier to get on with the magic Twotter PPC. As for a wife, well to put it bluntly, she'll go absolutely nuts whi...

The first few days in Male are a little surreal, its defintely a different world over there, I hope your apartment isnt right next to a temple like mine was. Yo...

I'm just wondering how the heck to get noticed by MAT. I apply every week and receive no reply. Even like a scratch and win ticket a "better luck next time!" would be nice. Just joking around. I am really interested in working for borek, any advise? The only real way to get on at MAT is for Sean to...
