Re: 17 year TA?

There is no rush... we have an existing agreement to 2025. Absolutely. Anyone scared of Rovinescu won't have to worry about his wrath in 2025 anyway. I don't think he has 6 more years in him as CEO... And other deals will have come and moved on by then. GGN is cooked, that's a certainty. Cutting of...

Re: Think carefully before you make your next move

Haven’t posted in a VERY long time. I’m doing so because of my belief that we need to vote YES. Are we worth more? Yes. Is it worth gambling my pension, my accrued seniority, my career stability. No. In the end, as a 13 yr Jazz pilot, I’m paid fairly, I’ve been afforded a great quality of life and ...

Re: 17 year TA?

If you are senior and don't like it vote no. Agreed. If you are junior and don't like it, vote yes and go to AC. Vote no...and still go to AC... A looming pilot shortage and again the industry is out maneuvering a pilot group. Air Canada needs pilots - FACT. That FACT is never going to change. Pilo...

Re: Air Canada vs American Airlines A320

do you guys think US Aviation will open the door to Canadian Pilots ? the pay here is a joke. No - I don't What I think is far more likely is they would hire Canadian airlines to take on Capacity Purchase Agreements (CPA) to move around passengers south of the border. You would have cheap labour wh...

Re: New duty regs are out

Medevac operators are not exempt but have a different threshold. There are also provisions for on call and standby. Its your company's job to sort it out and implement it, it's your responsibility to show up rested and to recognize fatigue. You have the right to refuse work. The pilot occupation ha...

Re: AC New hires please us your WB bid

I haven't heard or read of anyone defending the low hourly starting wages. I agree with everything Ratherbee said; 2 years at fixed rates is long enough and the rates should be over $80/hour to start without question. I know lots of pilots at AC who have earned 6 figures in their second year. This ...

Re: AC New hires please us your WB bid

If Air Canada made Wide Body F/O the same status (get off flat pay) as a narrow body captain they would have no problem crewing the 777/787. To elaborate, if you bid widebody f/o it would get you off of 4 year flat pay just like going captain gets you off flat pay. I KNOW it will never happen becau...

ALPA just thanked Minister Garneau on Twitter for the changes.  “Thank you Minister @MarcGarneau and @Transport_GC for working hard to put these critical Flight Time/Duty Time Regulations in place and #KeepFlyingSafe for all of our Canadian @WeAreALPA members and the millions of passengers they fly ...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Does that mean 409 new hires for 2019? Bids, in theory, are 12 month forecasts of crewing requirements. So certainly, +400 pilots will he needed before end of next year. I heard from a friend that knows the uncle’s cousin of the best friend of VP of Ops that 2018 was the most amount of hiring AC ha...

Re: AC pay rates

Yeah it is misguided. The "flat" pay needs to be improved, there is no argument, but it's a long game... and if all you can afford on $ 60K or $70K/year plus a $10K profit share is KD, then you're making some bad choices ... or maybe get off the 9 day RP sked and take an upgrade if you're that fina...

“Haters gonna hate” “They hate us cause they ain’t us” I find it ironic that someone rips into a former crown corporation company with a turbulent history of mergers and tough times that took a government payout but yet brags about how little they work. If Air Transat pilots are working so little, h...

Well I don't know all +4000 pilots at AC but I can say everyone I fly with, are very happy.

Bottom of the seniority list isn't great but it is a long term game

Re: Why does everyone want to work at Air Canada?

Assuming this isn't a post from a troll... From my experience I have yet to meet anyone who isn't happy to be at AC. Some people are a bit disgruntled from things that happened in the past but you won't hear anyone wishing they were at WJ, SW or AT. I promise you that. Every ground school has WJ, SW...

I think most of us can agree that today is a good day for Canadian Aviation and a victory for organized labour. Hopefully most of the 26 will go back to the rocks that they crawled out from under and reflect on the damage they nearly inflicted on the rest of the industry. Congrats ALPA. Keep up the...
