I hope all the pax are on a beautifil deserted island in the Pacific eating coconuts. Cube Now that would be a trick considerin...

you can lock your back but then the lovely ppl at us customs cnd customs will be more then happy to inspect your bag and as I understand it the tool of choice according to THEIR SOPs is a very sharp knife followed by a "WE ARE NOT LIABLE STICKER ATTACHED TO ALL YOUR BAGS" :smt014 :smt014

OCAS

OBSTACLE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM does anyone have any more information on this I saw a demo on "Daily Planet" but i missed if the transmissions are on all frequencies in range or only on a specific frequency. So far it seems like a very promising system especially for those ops at low level. what...

Re: Have your AME do a proper fuel gauge calibration check !

I recently brought this question to the AME and was told that fuel guages were not needed, were not realiable other then to know if you have full tanks, or empty and should not be used for anything other then that :o so i guess if you dont lean your mixture exactly and are doing a long trip you can...

Re: JAA

Keep it in perspective. JAA kids get to sit right seat in jets, Canadian CPL's get to sit right seat in a Navajo. There are those who learn by reading, others learn by doing. Who's to say which way is better than the other? This subject has been beat to death numerous times but I stress again; do y...

Re: We may be among the last generation of airline pilots

I still think that bio and synthetic fuels are the way to go. VikVaughan wrote: They have already run a jet engine on a 30/70 mixture of synthetic kerosene, and more recently, a 50/50 mixture, with no modification to the engine. With slight changes, a jet engine can run on 100% synthetic kerosene bi...

I need to keep up my MIFR and I thought it would be a good excuse to take the family on a trip every couple of months while staying current. Does anyone know of a nice plane preferebly 6 pax in...

Re: JAA

perhaps we should all try to attain a higher standard ourselves. How? I sugest that we make our training on par with JAA I think that we could start by redesigning our ground school especially for the commercial i think it should include more then just the extreme minimum required for the passing o...

Re: JAA

Certainly the JAA PPL is a poorer standard than the original CAA PPL in the UK. We've had PPLs have to get their SPPs and do further training before being given a Canadian PPL. But I think the Canadian CPL is perhaps too low a standard. The requirement for 80 hours of groundschool redresses this so...

well this is for flight training and one of my issues is after clearing customs in the states usually you have a hard time with filing flight plans and can end up meaning an idling engine for up to 45 minutes which i think i just a waste of money which im sure would be worth a small fee for the conv...

FLYING CROSS BORDER

Just wondering what the difference is between clearing customs at an airport close to the border instead of at your destination especially since clearing at destination gives ATC the ability to follow the flight in case something was to happen and saves you having to do an extra landing. all comment...
