Re: Maylan closed?
Empire, Maylan same hangar, same airplanes. I was only in there once, and it was about a week before they changed the name. Got a bad impression of the place, and never went back. Empire was bought out by Maylan well before the name was changed. What you got when you went there was the Maylan exper...

Re: G8/G20 VIP air travel
I live in downtown Toronto. Just saw 4 Griffons enter the downtown area low level. CP24's chopper is still hanging around. There's also an Aurora circling the area a couple thousand feet up.

Congratulations on your acceptance.
That would be a question for the UWO admissions department. Give them a call.

Re: University of Western? or Seneca?
Hey Ashbringer, I can't speak for the Seneca program other than I know the flight training is pretty good there. I am a recent graduate (as of last week actually) of the Western program so I know a couple things about it. PM me for details, but all I'm going to say here is that the education provide...

Re: A PhD in Aviation?
I hardly ever post here but I felt like I should get this out. I calculate the cost of this shite to be over $80,000. Nobody would hire somebody stupid enough to fall for this. A PHD in aviation, what a joke, how about a PHD in truck driving or bus driving. This industry needs to realize how ridicul...

Re: Petition for "College of Professional Pilots"?
I don't think we should have a college program We should how ever have a program similar to European systems; it works well there. But such system requires a much heavier emphasis on the "flying" aspect. The reason any hobo can become a pilot is because it's not hard to fly an airplane. And it has ...

Re: Ready for change in our Industry ????
I like the idea. As a soon to be new entrant into the industry, I also appreciate the fact that there are so many people willing to improve conditions for pilots.....
So where do we start?

Re: UWO'S BMOS - Commercial Aviation Management - Flight
From an article 'On the horizon : Global standard for Pro pilots' from a magazine(called 'Aviation for Women' September/October 2008) I read ; Janeen Kochan, A member of the PABC(Professional Aviation Board of Certification) Board of Directors said, 'Pilot hopefuls, she adds, have traditionally cho...

Re: UWO'S BMOS - Commercial Aviation Management - Flight
Sault, Confederation and Western Ontario are all good schools.. Each school has both good things and bad things.. So, I think... It's up to your choice and interest. Find the program that fits to you.. If you go to a school that does not fit to you, you won't be very successful even if you go to th...

That said, I understand that Diamond in London, ON taxi around with the canopy open in the summer time. I personally have never seen this take place. I also find it highly unlikely for two reasons. 1 - The canopy on a C1 acts like big parachute. If it's unlatched it can even blow open on a windy da...

Re: UWO'S BMOS - Commercial Aviation Management - Flight
I had a friend who wanted to be a pilot, and started out at Western for a year. He hated it and said it was the biggest waste of money for him. He didn't like the fact that he went to school for a year and never touched an airplane. Now I don't have a university degree, so I'm probably not smart en...
