Re: Airplane stuck in the states

Airline down, fly it home, 14 days quarantine is your best bet. I recently crossed the border both ways in a private aircraft and it was a non event.

Re: Post-Simulator Quarantine?

I just came back from training in the states. Take your uniform and wear it on your return airline flight to Canada as it saves confusion when clearing customs. I told them I was flight crew returning from training and they did not ask for any documentaion. I also took a covid test when I returned o...

Unable to Receive Chiropractic due to Travel

My Chiropractor refuses to see me due to my recent travel (which is totally their right). Has anyone bumped into this? Has anyone found any guidance for for health care providers related to treating essential workers? I expect to be out of the country weekly for the foreseable future and wouldn't mi...

Re: Private aircraft import

Plan on spending 10% of the value of the aircraft satisfying Transport Canada If it has a damage history, even an old one, don’t do it. If it has any weird mods installed, make sure they are also allowed in Canada HST due at the border. If there’s any way you can buy a similar aircraft with a C reg ...

Good choice. Nobody is upgrading their 601's with FANS and CPDLC. We even had a 604 sold off for parts

Re: TSX: CHR, AC, EIF, ONEX

I asked my Investment advisor about buying AC stock and this was his reply: The tricky part for investors is figuring out if a bailout is going to come, and then if it does how does it effect shareholders. For example, when the government bailed out GM during the 2008/2009 crisis the company was abl...

Covid 19 testing for those of us still working

Some industries are testing everyone and rightfully so. For flight crew unless we have symptoms and go to a hospital we won't be tested. I am hoping as testing improves all essential workers will be allowed access to testing even if we are symptom free. Ontario's guidelines below show how narrow the...

Re: Stuck above the clouds with no instruments

Full Flap
Throttle set “mid range” adjust for desired decent rate
Use rudder only to maintain approx heading
DO NOT TOUCH THE YOKE
Sit on your hands, ignore the stall warning ect and as long as you only use the rudder it should bring you safely down through the layer

Re: Cherokee Six missing near Kingston?

My fixed gear Saratoga has a useful load of 1420 lbs. It burns 16 gal/hour on average. 6 aduts (3 couples)and 3 hours fuel is doable and the strength of the toga. I cant speak to this accident but I can say the Saratoga is a hauler. Newer versions with retract, air conditioning and heavy interiors c...

Re: Porter Airlines YQT Base - We are hiring!

I spoke to a PlaneSense pilot one day. He said they often open an Orlando base, hire a bunch of pilots, then close the base.
Not saying Porter would do that, but it happens.

Re: What's the deal with Kilmer and Onex?

TOTG you have missed the plot Pilots with those qulifications exist, they are not unicorns as you suggest. Its a legitimate posting, and a great flight department. Maybe the current Captn gave a 6 months or years notice of retirement. Plus once a Toronto based pilot has been chosen, it takes time to...

Re: Closing of a Flight Plan or Flight Itinerary Prior to Landing

That's exactly how it works, close your flightplan and your on your own after that. SAR services are terminated. For IFR you can cancel your IFR but keep your alerting services open.... the IFR flightplan has two parts....that frees up the airspace over the airport, but gives you the assurance if so...

Thanks GvyAir for posting audio Here is a comment from another forum " It's that Eva didnt bother to line up right. Those pads are wide enough for a a380 to go through without hitting the poles. The pads utilize the MARS concept that allows two narrow bodies to be tandem on the pad when a large...

I used the King Videos for all my Canadian IFR, Commercial and ATPL written exams and I swear by them. Yes some thing are different but I think the understanding and retention you gain will exceed negatives associated with studying the American material
