Re: Challenger 600 crashes on Florida highway
Digits, my first post was incorrect, we only manually transfer fuel forward from the tail as part of an abnormal checklist. The tail tank is irrelevant on a flight this short we would never use it. Left/right transfers are standard procedure and done all the time. We generally go wings to an Aux/Col...

Re: Challenger 600 crashes on Florida highway
Is there a configuration in which both engines on a Challenger 600 would be running from the same fuel tank?
Only in an abnormal situation as part of a checklist. Never simply to balance fuel. The Challenger was built to cross the ocean, we have double and triple redundancy on most system.

Re: Challenger 600 crashes on Florida highway
Challenger 604 has all the modern CVR and FDR requirements so we should get a full picture of what happened. It carries loads of fuel without consequence so guys usually carry lots extra, Engines are a variant of the A 10 Warthog engine that you can shoot with a cannon and they still keep running.
Re: French?
I've picked up Charter customers many times in Quebec and they are fine with just English. However an owner would be less tolerant with his full time crew. I have heard of guys not getting jobs because the owner wanted a French speaking crew, which is fine.

Re: Dedicated or seat swap?
PIC flies Out
SIC flies Back
If the SIC is green then fly from the right seat for a year until after first recurrent. Get left seat qualified at 1st recurrent swap seats after that.
Eventually just alternate days as experience grows.

Honestly, a two crew medical should be simple for anyone to get. I hope Covid showed that extending the renewal dates made sense and didnt effect safety.

Re: Does Arinc have the ability to display Jeppeson approach plates
Not that I can I see, I use all three, and the approach plate option on the Arinc Direct app is unreliable and useless as far as I can tell.
I just switched to Foreflight, not a huge fan yet but its ok. I still need the Arinc app for the oceanic stuff, and plotting charts

ARINC for the win!
However you didn't say what and where your flying so any advice your getting might not be relevant.
A heavy international jet has different needs than a King Air

Re: Learjet to end production
People don’t want to drive in small cars and people don’t want to fly in small cabins. Now you can have a mid to large cabin with equal or better performance than a Lear.

Maybe after 9 years without a post, its time for Avcanada to unstick his imported aircraft thread from the top of the Bizjet page?

Re: "COVID pricing" for aircraft sales?
I was told the correct price for the CAD should be 80 cents US, but we are well below that currently. I agree aircraft prices are nuts currently, I sold mine last spring for almost full asking price. I am waiting till reality sets in, and will purchase in a year or two. I have a specific type I want...

Re: Airplane stuck in the states
Airline down, fly it home, 14 days quarantine is your best bet. I recently crossed the border both ways in a private aircraft and it was a non event.

Re: Post-Simulator Quarantine?
I just came back from training in the states. Take your uniform and wear it on your return airline flight to Canada as it saves confusion when clearing customs. I told them I was flight crew returning from training and they did not ask for any documentaion. I also took a covid test when I returned o...

Unable to Receive Chiropractic due to Travel
My Chiropractor refuses to see me due to my recent travel (which is totally their right). Has anyone bumped into this? Has anyone found any guidance for for health care providers related to treating essential workers? I expect to be out of the country weekly for the foreseable future and wouldn't mi...

Re: Private aircraft import
Plan on spending 10% of the value of the aircraft satisfying Transport Canada If it has a damage history, even an old one, don’t do it. If it has any weird mods installed, make sure they are also allowed in Canada HST due at the border. If there’s any way you can buy a similar aircraft with a C reg ...

Re: TSX: CHR, AC, EIF, ONEX
I asked my Investment advisor about buying AC stock and this was his reply: The tricky part for investors is figuring out if a bailout is going to come, and then if it does how does it effect shareholders. For example, when the government bailed out GM during the 2008/2009 crisis the company was abl...

Covid 19 testing for those of us still working
Some industries are testing everyone and rightfully so. For flight crew unless we have symptoms and go to a hospital we won't be tested. I am hoping as testing improves all essential workers will be allowed access to testing even if we are symptom free. Ontario's guidelines below show how narrow the...
