Re: Any current info on perimeter?

Why are they doing the sim check and pilot interview AFTER the ramp wait? Are people going to become better pilots after sitting for 1-2yrs? so the company waits the time for the pilots skills to improve on the check and then check out their skill? Why isn't the sim eval and pilot interview done at...

Re: Perimeter aviation hiring requirements

Great company to work for. No outside hiring of F/Os. Wait time is around 1-1.5years on the ground. Things are speeding up in the industry with 2-3000hr pilots going to AC. This means F/Os are spending considerably less time in the right seat and ground is getting promoted a lot faster. HR has a sta...

Re: Any current info on perimeter?

New pilots get lots of hours in their first month due to line-indoc. All working days are scheduled blocks to get through the line-indoc syllabus in a timely manner. I have yet to find a better starting option then Perimeter. I don't think there is a better place to start a career to be honest. Whil...

Re: Any current info on perimeter?

Or you could apply now. The ramp manager doesn't care if you have an IATRA  I will throw my opinion in the ring, but the others have pretty much touched on the issues I wanted to. -As a Class 4 you won't get a job Multi-IFR instructing. Working full time ramp and part time instructing will get...

Re: Military (non-pilot) thinking of a Flying Career

In all honesty you would be better off going to air crew selection at 8 Wing. Fly for the forces. The pay is better, you'll have a pension, and you already have experience. I'm assuming you're not an officer, but with the degree you have, you can skip that portion of RMC/Civi College and just go on ...

Re: Jumpseat agreements

Ok to sum things up: Perimeter pilots have jump seat agreements with the following: -Air Canada -Jazz -Westjet -Porter -Sunwing -Bearskin -Canjet Can't really get into specifics, but ONLY Perimeter PILOTS can use the privilege. No family, friends or rampies with a CPL. In regards to intraline passes...

Finish your degree. I'd aim more towards the B. Eng, because everyone and their dog has a B. Comm or "Management" diploma. Engineering is also more direct rather than dicking around at lower level "commerce" jobs. If you have 3 more years of engineering left, I assume you've already done 1-1.5 years...

PIlot Uniform Suppliers

Just wondering where everyone orders their uniforms from? I'm in YWG and am trying to find a good place to get my essentials. Re: Any current info on perimeter?

Do they hire experienced pilots for the metro or only promote from within...ramp/instructing etc Only hire from within. Last time this wasn't the case, Jazz was hiring people with 1500hrs right seat time. Perimeter is a great place to work, and start your career in aviation. With the advancements i...

+1 for Perimeter. Best pay in any department compared to all the other starter companies. So you will not live in squalid poverty while you're waiting to fly, plus YWG isn't that bad. Once you're on line, it's pretty nice too. Full benefits package, OK starting pay, Pilots Association, proper maint....

Lost Plane near YTH ~ YOH

Anyone else hear the lost single piston last friday evening (Jul9) around the YOH / YTH area. Apparently he was flying from YTH-YOH and passed the ETA and concluded he was in fact, lost. He was being coached by a few Perimeter and Calm air flights, but I never heard what came about of him or the det...

My advice. Don't waste your time on a road trip. Move to Winnipeg, and get ANY job you can at Perimeter Aviation (ramp, training, reservations, check in, stores, cargo). Write your IATRA too. The wait may be 1.5-2years, but I promise you, this will be the best career you will ever make. They have ex...

You always could check in online when jump seating. You still need to hassle the captain though under the new agreement. Only things that have changed are:
1)YOU pay the AIF, nav canada etc
2)No walk ups, must be registered through the call centre

Having flown with both Harv's and Perimeter I can assure you that they are both quality training establishments. Perimeter specializes in the IFR. Before you can even attempt your multi rating, they stick you in the sim for a good 20 sessions (can't recall exact number) and you go over everything fr...

Re: looking for good school (ME+IFR)..

The reason perimeter costs a bit more it because YOU ACTUALLY learn to fly IFR in a structured lesson format. You're not just flying the same ILS over and over again. Nor do they teach you to just pass the flight test. Going to perimeter will make you a better pilot.. It seems like you are looking t...
