Just wondering if anyone knows of any operators in the carriboo who are known to take low time guys, or who are worth investigating.
100mile Charter ltd
and
Carriboo Air
are the only two operators I could find. Haven't talked to them yet tho.
Any others?
Thanks

Re: Harbour Air Buys West Coast Air
Just wondering, wouldn't it make sense to keep two separate companies, so as to keep the competitors out of CXH and YHW? I was told that in both cities, the local chamber of commerce wouldn't give out new operating licenses because there were already enough airlines operating there. I know Seair has...

Does Harbour Air have a pension?
Just wondering if they do, or if any float ops on the west coast offer any kind of pension?
Thanks

Re: Ice Pilots of NWT Series on History Channel this Fall!
I just read the first page so I'm sorry if this was already brought up, but shouldn't "Ice Pilots" have skis and land on snow and ice? From what I can tell, they have wheels and land on runways, no?

Re: Beaver with broken wing Porpoise Bay
A Beaver struck its wing on the water during take-off in Comox Harbour this summer. The wing broke at the strut attach point. I wonder what the odds are that the same thing happended twice in just a few months. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2436/3947448059_0f65f1323c_m.jpg http://farm4.static.flic...

Don't they have to pay the pilots minimum 6hrs if they cancel a shift on them? Or is that only if it's less than 24hrs before check-in?
How far in advance do they typically cancel these shifts?

What I don't get is why they don't just pay for a FO's upgrade, save on the line indoc training, and even if he has to go back to FO after the end of the season, at least they have a captain ready for the spring?

Re: New operator in Abbotsford?
Wow, that article was a funny, but disturbing read. Maybe the longer I'm in this industry, the more sensitive I become to aviation talk, but did that article seem like it was just a load of crap or is just me? Maybe it was just the reporter, but it seemed heavily quoted. Is that how new small airlin...

Were you asked for your highschool transcript?
I see that one of the minimum requirements for Air Canada is "Completion of schooling to the university entrance level". Just wondering how many people were actually asked for their high school transcript?? When they say "entrance level"...which University do they mean, since there are different req...

I was taken here from another thread, and I haven't read all the posts, but I just want to say that I think it's so dangerous, and so redneck ass backwards, that professionals who are in control of human lives and expensive machinery do not get the pay or working conditions they deserve, or at the v...

Is it still called "Air Canada Jazz"? was it ever? I always thought Jazz was just the regional feeder for AC?..... ...but more importantly, does a flying seat with Jazz give you better chances of getting on with AC? Do they post job openings "internally" with Jazz before going outside? Or does flyin...

Ok I apologize for being harsh, and I didn't mean to accuse CAC or anyone in particular, just bitching at the industry as a whole. I am obviously purely speculating at the reason, but I just feel like this event shouldn't go down in vain, that there is something positive that can be brought from it....

Re: Vancouver VTA's
Come on people, up here in Canada we have the giant CFS because if we go down, we're most likely in the middle of nowhere and need all that paper to roast our beavers over while we wait for rescue. Or if we had a fresh roll of tape, we could tape all the pages together to spell "Help" or as Mr. Leh ...

How about this....I've known Jeremy and the Mills family since I was little. I think this tragic event can be linked to the "Poorly Paid, Often Tired, Junior Pilots" . Jeremy would bust his ass painting during the day on top of flying at night so he could make some $$$. We all know how much those gu...

Re: Air Canada Ordered to Pay Dr. For Mid-Air Consult
I think it's a balance between doing a good deed or doing work. If the pilots died on a flight I was on, and I had to jump in to save everyone on board then I would consider that a good Samaritan act, and the only thing I might consider asking for is a job with them if it was better then where I was...

Re: Beaver Tips
Actually a higher octane controls the burn better than low octane. With lower octane you can get detonation, pre-detonation, or even preignition becuase the fuel will ignite premature due to compression. That is why high compression engines need higher octane values. Some engines I believe still cal...

Re: Beaver Tips
The engine was designed for 80/87 gas and even on that fuel we were never allowed to use low-power for take-off. Why else would we be taking off in Full Rich? You get more power leaned out, but you burn cylinders and valves. I've seen cylinders destroyed by detonation and its ugly. Besides, when yo...
