Re: 7 hr float rating
Ville Either scenario will help you get your first flying job. Neither choice is the wrong one. If you get your instructors, youll be building your time right away with a flying club. Enough to get you your first flying job. If you get your floats, it will be much cheaper, but you will have to put m...

Re: Westjet Service going down hill fast
I find their service not so hot as everyone says either. Personally, I like Air Canada more than West Jet. The Embrayer and RJ are much nicer planes to fly in than the 737's. Also, the entertainment systems in AC are much better than West Jet's. I also hate how WJ put on their little jokes while tax...

Hey Sepie So let me get this straight.... you are basicaly telling me that this college is actually FREE?? WOW... Then I guess its true about pilots... they really do find anything and everything to bitch about... I'm surprised this post was even started... Who could possible find the time to bitch ...

Re: Why sault college is not a great option
I agree with this poster... This program is a money grab just like all the other aviation diploma programs. Here's why: The John Abbot professional aviation program back in the day cost 55- 60k. It was a full time program which lasted for 2 or 2.5 years. The non pilot courses consisted of a few acco...

Go with Ornge. Pension plan is something not to be ignored. Government is stable. Charters in this economical crisis is risky. A few of my pilot friends got laid off recently working for charter companies.

Its really bad right now. Worse its been in 4 years. No one is hiring, unemployment figures continue to rise. 45 000 for the month of May. The economy is nowhere close to recovering.

Re: How bout working for westjet while flight training???
Hmmm... well I have my Bcomm in Concordia too... and I can certainly say it played no role helping me network in the aviation industry. It certainly helped in the Finance industry. Does having a Bcomm really help with your networking skills?.... NO. Helps with other things. You either get along well...

Re: How bout working for westjet while flight training???
Hey jpar84 Ill give you some real advice. Working at Westjet while doing your training is fine for now. But you will never get hired with them as a Pilot after you are finished. They are like 3 or 4 echelons above your experience level. You will need to go out to the regionals or even lower to get y...

Re: Interview with Ornge
Hey guys I'm a bit surprised you said all the hiring letters have been sent out. I myself, was asked to complete some documents allowing them to do my security checks. That was last Monday. Was anyone else asked to do the same thing? And if so.. how long did it take for them to get backto you concer...

Employment agencies for Aviation
Hi To maximize my job search efficiency, I have always wondered about the aviation employment agency option. Unfortunately, I do not know of many off hand. Antipersonnel is just one that I know of. Can anyone give me some names of hiring agency's that find pilots for airlines around the world. I sho...

Re: 2nd interview - Ornge
Well quite frankly, I am actually surprised Ornge actually feels as though they need to hand out a bond. The salary and benefits they offer alone are fare and enough to keep pilots around for at least 1 year if not 3 or 4. But one thing that is quite unique with aviation compared to other profession...

Re: 2nd interview - Ornge
NO... your wrong. Its that way because of the shear numbers that drive people to be that way. Any system worth changing never ever happens from the bottom up... ALWAYS from the top down. If training costed 90k instead, and you were required to have a University degree, no criminal record and get a h...

Re: 2nd interview - Ornge
I actually very much disagree. Its a matter of simple accounting. ORNGE - 50k a year - 10k bond = 40k a year + (pension, 100% bursaries for university, bonus & benefits) vs. MOST OTHER COMPANIES - 27k a year - no bond = 27k a year (no pension, bonus or benefits). The salary by itself is almost doub...

Re: 2nd interview - Ornge
Well... it actually sounds like a really good opportunity. And the salary and benefits are by far, way better than anywhere else Ive seen for my experience level.
So, if anyone could tell me what to expect for the second interview, that would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Interview with Ornge
Well... DOC... their might be a bond but the actual salary is quite good. Its the same evil as working in Sioux Lookout for 30k. Bond or no bond. I have to take what Im offered.
