Bummer. That being said, I don’t really think it’s ever been a particularly easy job.

Re: Tips on crossing the US border when landing at a nearby airport
Are you crossing the border VFR, Canada to the US, with the discrete code given to you by Canadian ATS associated with your flight plan or just 1200 on the box? TP 15048 tells me I need a discrete code for the border crossing. Unfortunately FAR 91.707, which it references, does not support this clai...

Re: Tips on crossing the US border when landing at a nearby airport
Just to be clear, you will need to contact a US agency to obtain your border crossing code when vfr. Canadian FIC's can't give it to you. Center or US FSS. I usually phone them. They will give it to you up to about 45 minutes prior to your estimated crossing time.

Re: What airplane was the most difficult to fly?
I'm guessing it doesn't get any better with the floats attached. A wise man pointed out to me recently that it is indeed an Ag airplane. It's not built to fly, it's built to survive a crash.

Re: Susi Air AT802F
Thanks CB. That answered my question. Not about how crappy it'd be to be one of the 7 - 9 pax but how much fuel can be hauled. I see it has weather radar. Is that a common mod?

Susi Air AT802F
I found this image on the Susi Air website. I'm wondering if someone can tell me why this doesn't look like any 802 I've seen at a tanker base. Specifically the bottom of the hopper. Is this a picture of a 1002?

Re: Entering DME hold
The10 dme on a specified radial is the fix. Go there. From a practical point of view the radial and dme will be on your route. As an example there is a published hold east of YEG at CAMRA. This can be located old school at the 083 radial for 50 miles. If for some reason you are using the preferred I...

Re: Do noise cancelling headsets protect or damage your ears
Just my 2 cents. Damage to the inner ear can occur due to transmission of energy through the skeletal structure. Example: Ear plugs at a rock concert will do nothing to protect you from energy transmitted to your inner ear via your cheek bones and skull. If you are serious about protecting your hear...

Don't muck about with the Canadair products. The future of aerial forest fire control comes from Air Tractor. But I'm not bitter.

Simple question regarding clearance limit.
Flightplan is CYXD drct EPLUR DUVNO 2 ARR CYYC. On the sid from CYXD after several vectors cleared direct EPLUR. If I hear direct EPLUR with nothing else, is that my clearance limit? Just wondering because it happens the other way. "ABC cleared direct YEG". Should it sound like "ABC cleared direct Y...

Re: 42 day duty rule
Good post. But yes. July 1-5 off. With 5 days off you can be scheduled for duty up to 42 consecutive days. Not 42 duty days but calendar days. The boss can use you every day till Aug 02 (28 duty days) till he needs to give you 5 days off. If I was him though I would work you till August 16. If you g...

Re: 42 day duty rule
If you are going to use the 42 day requirement for time free from duty, which includes 5 consecutive days off prior and 5 consecutive days off following, that would be the deal. If you can meet the 3 in 30 then use that one. If after 27 days and you can't take 3 days off you are on the 42 day progra...

Really? Here we go again with the paid by the hour routine. Are you implying that the record holding contract captain will be out doing a sub standard job? While we are at it I hope he doesn't knock over too many trees with the inferior two door system. Time for some new material.
