Re: The Return to Normal?

Hiring cycles were: 1973-1974 1978-1980 1985-1990 1995-2000 2005-2008 2010-2020 Avg break between cycles was 4-5 years and for the most part coincided with recession in the economic cycle. The last decade been an anomaly. Hopefully the length of this recession will be an anomaly as well. Or I picke...

Re: Snowbird replacement aircraft

All the way where ?
A design almost as old as the Tutor ,
The only thing it has going for it is twin engines .

Who would sell us a sixth generation laser gun equipped fighter ? Maybe we could build the future , an Arrow 2.
Look to the future , not to the past .

To Infinity and Beyond :)

Does the parachute system have a reserve chute ? I have seen how quick a reserve chute can deploy and it is way quicker than what the video showed the chute opening . A cheap fix might be to look improving the chute , bigger drouge , spring loaded like a reserve , just speculation on my part as I am...

I feel sad for anyone who never got to meet him . I last saw him when I rented a 172 off him to fly up the coast . To an airport that another one of his 172 had an accident the day before . Good times

Cessna Scorpion small cheap twin that can be used for SAR and is cheap . Did I mention it was cheap :)

Maybe Viking could build them under licence . Might even make a few for export for poor countries that cannot afford to provide their military with the tools required to do the Job :)

If you group buy the oil by the case . It is cheap . Do not be like those guys who buy one quart at a time and change oil once a year because they overpay for oil so it must be good , cause they bought the best . Buy it by the case and change the oil like you change your socks or underwear . It it c...

Might be the oil . Change the oil . Run it up . If you make static RPM . You have enough power for some circuits . Check it again after a few hours , if they are all about the same gtg . If you get one low and the rest high . Try break in oil for an hour ground run . It is more important to have a c...

Sense, common , none . Why not do your IFR training at night ? Night time is hard to get for the Atpl. Why tie up an airport when you could get your training and night time in the quiet times ? I did a lot of night time training , complained about it at the time as night time was usually cuddling ti...

There is a very interesting debate going on at the CDC about the R0 values for Covid.
Not the first time the WHO was asleep at the switch .

Anyhoo, the R naughts are the important numbers to watch. Right now they are more important than seniority numbers .

You need an ops spec approval in a commercial operators manual to operate under reduced visibility operations. Or a kind ground that will not cador you for being silly and wanting to take your toys out on a bad day . But what kind of GA airplane wants to taxi in 25 kt winds , knowing you are going t...
