Like a lot of pilots in Canada I worked for Harvey. It was a good time in my life. My condolences to the Friesen Family.

The Bear is a good place and it is truly sad that have to go through something like this. My thoughts go out to all those involved.

Re: Bearskin Metro 3 CYRL accident - Speculation thread
If there is a serious discussion/speculation on any accident even if later we find out it was completely out in left field I say its worth it. If it gets pilots back into the books and thinking about how they can do things safer its worth it... that's what makes forums a good thing. For example I ju...

Does the 208 have auto fuel balancing? Can the auto-pilot(on a 208) hold wings level if the fuel is not balanced?

Re: Airline Pilot Jobs of the Future-home every night, no je
...There are far too many aircraft to be retired for this idea to become a norm in the next 50 years. A simple retro-fit away from turning them into single pilot machines. It doesn't matter anyway. The price of gas is going up by the minute. We will all be walking (and riding bikes) in 20 ye...

Re: Airline Pilot Jobs of the Future-home every night, no je
A big new European research programme has begun to look at the possibility of a single-pilot flight deck for commercial operations. The project is called ACROSS (‘Advanced Cockpit for Reduction of StreSs and workload’). Funded by the European Commission and others to the tune of €30 million, it bri...

Re: Airline Pilot Jobs of the Future-home every night, no je
IMHO  within 10 years there will be single pilot airliners and in 20 years UAV type airliners. Passengers do not care who or what drives the thing through the sky, all they care about is the price. Most pilots don't like when I talk like this. Its mostly to do with feeling nostalgic about the ...

Re: 337 Gear Up is Saskatchewan
too many use them as a "read, then do", which is incorrect. A checklist simply backs up actions already carried out. Another problem I have with them, is the blind faith pilots put in them. Problem here (huge one) is, if interrupted items tend to be missed. Nothing comes even close to a good geogra...

Sorry doc, . but this is where we part ways (yet again
).
I have tried both memory and paper.
And I believe in the use of a paper checklist...as long as its a good one that is.

Re: 337 Gear Up is Saskatchewan
" Where am I landing and where is my gear " ., Ever since I first read that (how long ago did you first post it?) I do the same thing. Due too the variety of stuff I fly sometimes I have added one thing though. "what am I flying?...". Maybe folks, we should try and teach a little more instead of 'l...

Re: 337 Gear Up is Saskatchewan
Whats the difference between this one and the one at yyu again? I am easily confused I guess.
I cant wait till the 337 pilot comes on here and tells us all his/her story. We can all forgive and forget and get them a new job...if needed.

umm yea...get a latter I guess. I have to wonder just where you did your kingair time. And don't get me wrong pelmet, if that is the SOP at the company(s) you work at, so be it. I have operated 6 different turbine aircraft at 4 different company's and was not only required to check oil levels and cap (and cowl) security but was also allowed to add oil when needed. I have found the oil...

This is my worst nightmare. I once left home and drove back to the airport in the middle of the night because I couldn't specifically remember double checking the oil cap was secure. Shit.....I've done that. yup me too. I am a little taken a back that there may be pilots out there that don't know h...
