Re: Don't Instictively go Back to Both
A long time ago while doing a mag check during a run-up the engine started to quit while selected to a single mag. I knew better but instinctively switched back to both. There was a very loud bang. I taxied back to the ramp and the faulty mag was replaced. That bang turned out to be very expensive. ...

Re: Fire the Transport minister
Within the past month I have emailed TC (Pacific region) twice. I requested a phone call and was called same day for one and next morning for the other.
Pacific region, though not sure if that’s relevant.
Wonder why red laser apparently has no success.

Re: Prepared? Lifejackets.
My single engine on wheels is based at an airport bordered by a large body of water in the Vancouver area. I used to carry the airline style yellow life jackets stored in large ziplock bags. Long before I took Bry's dunker course I tried putting on one of those yellow airline style lifejackets. In m...

Re: Chilliwack coffe Shop Close Feb 26,2017
PIREP....... Today Sunday 26th. Arrived at Chilliwack at 11:00 and was the ONLY visiting aircraft on the ramp. There were as many people waiting patiently as were seated in the restaurant. There was a sign at the entry advising only 1 pie per person, eat-in or take-out. While we (3) were waiting for...

South Terminal Vancouver you used to have to show your pilot's license, then it seemed to be that a commissionaire had to walk you onto the ramp. Don't know what its like now. May be a restricted area so that unsecured don't disembark into secured at places like Victoria. I see Pacific Coastal now ...

When a pilot screws up a procedure it becomes his/her nickname.
Only fitting that she should now be referred to as "Poppy."

"Forgotten again" compares the recent one to the one 5 years ago.
Let's wait for the facts and find out whether it was a mechanical issue before saying "forgotten again."

Okay let me try again (apologies for my lack of professionalism :prayer: ) ... I am a fresh CPL ME/IR and float rating. I did my training in Pacific flying club (BC) and Harv's Air Service (MB). I have only 200 hours of flight which does not make me employable to most operators in Canada (or in the...

I still recall the highlight of an overseas flight when I was a teenager. The visit to the cockpit and the pilots taking the time to explain their world to me. Later on it was me who invited kids up for a view out of my "office window." On longer flights I would often go for a stroll and bring kids ...

I started with a SPOT1 and am now using a SPOT2. Works well for my purposes. SPOT 3 will fill my needs even more and at some point I will upgrade to a SPOT3. What I have learned... There was an incident back in the late 70s ish. I believe the aircraft (737) belonged to CPair, maybe CAIL. It departed yxy for yxs, (yes, that was a route back then) with the pins in. As the story was related at the time, the crew decided to not return to land, but continued on to PG. They almost ...

..... SPOT does NOT work in an airliner at altitudes above FL190. In the context of this flight, Had there been service in the area and at least one spot in the airplane and turned on, It would have to get lower than FL190 at some point.. Lots of speculation, lots of theories, slim in facts is essentially the order of business in this case. Something else caught my attention as well. Air Canada lands on the taxiway at SeaTac all the time. Air Canada "Jazz" if you want to be accurate. Also actually only once - if you want to be factual. The other two landings on that piece of pavement were by airlines other than Air Canada "Jazz". You are 100% correct that it was a taxiway. It w...

Type of aircraft doesn't matter Sure does, since you're claiming that you can climb thousands of feet in less than the second that it takes before you read back the new altitude. Very impressive. Do tell. I'm guessing Saturn V? "Climbing 5,000 ABC" means not at 5,000 but in the climb to 5,000. "5,0...

What type is it?
5000 is 5000 ft in any aircraft (FL 350 is FL 350) in any aircraft.
But I'm pretty sure that was not the point you were trying to make.

ABC 5000 implies being level at 5000.
ABC climbing 5000 or ABC descending 5000 leaves no doubt that ABC is not presently at 5000.
Especially important in countries where English is not the first language of the controller, works here in North America as well.
