Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
Why just the 285 that actually got hired and not the ones that didn't? Those that make up the 37% that went to AC were certainly affected, but I'd say the missing 23% that didn't and are still stuck at Jazz are more negatively impacted.

Re: Negotiations
Not a gamble I am prepared to take. They also have a line in the sand for how much they are prepared to give, and simply live with the consequences if it isn't accepted. I don't know where that threshold exists, but I know they have it. It’s probably not at the first offer the company would make, b...

I've recently been thinking the same. Hindsight being what it is, I'd have never have joined had I knew what was in store.

Re: Jazz vs Encore FO Pros/Cons
I can't recommend either, but I will say that at Jazz, you are not guaranteed the CRJ nor base for that matter. It shouldn't be too difficult to get the base you want, but you could be frozen on the Q400 for up to 4 years. It seems you favour the jet which is why I bring it up. Just something to thi...

Re: Equipment bid
The mere statement that hundreds of thousands of people will still lose their lives in and effort to keep the economy going is conjecture based on some rather faulty assumptions. Um, have you not paid attention? Hundreds of thousands have already lost their lives with the economy not going, so plen...

Re: Jazz Approach
I’ve always said this would happen. It’s the next logical step for Canadian aviation. Most of the other countries you don’t have to “pay your dues” up North or work as a flight instructor. You simply finish your training and get on with an airline in a mentor ship role. Sit as a Second officer and ...

wow....had a few ?????? This is one of the biggest reasons that people say this is a terrible forum; a post with nothing related to the topic but just a criticism of a poster. I got the gist of what he said with a few minor spelling errors. If we all played spelling, punctuation, and grammar police...

Re: Sunwing scabs the industry even further.
This isn't any different from what Jazz has done for the past 10 years. They have taken a record number of fresh grads from several flight colleges. This will only become more widespread unless TC does what the FAA did and make an ATPL a requirement for 704/705 FOs (like it should be). But we know t...

^ Great post. Thanks for an honest, inside look into this company. It would be great if other people could share their experiences at various companies so that others can make an informed decision on their next place of employment.

Re: Thunder Air job
Well folks, maybe things have changed in the last few decades, but theres essentially 3 ways to start a aviation career in Canada in 2014; A) Go to college get good grades, kiss a little ass and get into a Jazz/Georgian type program B) Become a 200 hr flight instructor and live out a top-gun fantas...

AME Shortage
Did a bunch of AMEs disappear recently? Almost every ad I've seen posted the past week has been for AMEs. Anyone know the reason for the sudden demand?
I'm clearly on the wrong side of the industry.

I've never had an overall good experience at any flight school so take this with a grain of salt, but stay away from Toronto Airways. Every single experience I've had with that place has been a huge waste of time.

Go with the one that gets you done sooner. The faster you are done, the faster you can start looking for work and start building the hours. I can't vouch for either of those colleges, but I've gone the aviation college route.
