Re: Westjet pilot TA

Management is fond of reminding Encore that it is a completely separate company from WestJet. WestJet's TA will have nothing to do with Encore, other than sweeten the pot and make it more desirable to flow up as soon as possible (no sign of moving off of the 25% flow). WJE has long since been forgo...

Re: Bases announced!!

I would expect that there will be more multi day pairings in YYZ as compared to the current pairing breakdown in the port, considering YYZ will most likely be covering some/more/most of the east coast overnights. As for 5 dayers, I anticipate that they will all but disappear.

Re: Halifax commuters

No one from YHZ is home to reply, they are all on the road working, commuting or at their crashpads in YYC! Commuting from the east coast is problematic at best. Flights are quite full, there are lots of commuters, weather frequently causes cancellations (resulting in backlogs that I've seen last da...

Not at this time. There is only one pilot currently on the port petition for YUL.

Re: Pilots living in the Moncton NB area?

Hi Merlin, There are 3 pilots in the YQM area that I know of, I'm not one of them (YYT), but I will try to answer your questions. The three pilots that are out of the YQM area all are in the YYZ port, however they are all captains. This makes a big difference in your sked, as a captain you normally ...

Re: another YYZ port question.

First of all, welcome aboard. I would sign up for YYZ. Signing up for YOW will lead to you commuting to 2 places, YOW and YYC. If you sign up for YYZ and give port attributes high priority in your bid, you will have success with your schedule. There are a few F/Os that have the bidding for YYZ pairi...

I can't say for sure, but I have noticed a number of new dispatchers on the flight releases.

These dispatchers could be in-house trained and hired though.

Re: Toronto Port

BK, For a Hamilton area flight crew how well does the port system out of yyz work? Not bad, we do have porters who live in the YHM area and it seems to work for them. Be warned, there are a lot of one and two day pairings that will require a considerable amount of time on the QEW. How many parings a...

I heard it was primarily a three fold reason: 1) A new livery (aircraft colors) to be unveiled in October with the next delivery 2) A retrofit of aft galley to include two ovens 3) Pulling out the first four rows of seats and replacing them with three rows of 2 by 2 seating All in preparation for a...

Re: CAT3 YYT

Will be an improvement, however, a Cat II on 11 or 16 would be much more beneficial. I have never missed in YYT when the ability to use 600 RVR on 29 would make a difference. 100 RA on 11 or 16 could have made things much easier a few times. ILS on 34 wouldn't hurt either, but our RNP gets us almost...

We did end up with a CADOR from our pairing! Piton and Mount Gay are in short supply after our little time on island time.

Rumor. I have heard this from quite a few people lately. Even Jaques Kafavian. Apparently Georgian will do all the domestic flying and get the Emb and Airbus and Jazz gets all the overseas flying.
