Tony did both my private and commercial flight tests in the late 70's. Was a great guy and taught me more durning my flight tests than 5 hours with an instructor.
RIP Mr. Slugoski.

Re: Ottawa to tighten rules governing corporate jets
I am Ops Manager for a 704/CBAA Operation, and the requirements for CBAA were identical to CAR 704. Sulako please show me the CARS reference that mandates 604 oPerations Managers to have identical qualifications to 704/703 Ops Managers. Here is the quote direct from the POC Certification Manual: [ ...

Re: Ottawa to tighten rules governing corporate jets
Word on the street is that this change is being spear-headed by the Transport Canada Employee Union. With the increase in workload at the inspector level that this change would bring (350 current private operators) obviously TC will have to recruit new inspectors. New inspectors pay union dues.........

Program Validation Inspections
We are a non-SMS 703 IFR operator. We are due for an audit sometime in 2010 and I am curious as to whether flight operations audits (old style) have been replaced with these Program Validation Inspections. I understand that AMO's have been PVI'd as Quality Assurance is a program. If PVI's are being ...

I don't give a rat's ass whether the death penalty deters anyone from commiting a crime. It is a punishmnet not a deterrent.

Re: This "brother" needs his own thread!
Firstly, there is no regulation against recruiting a passenger or passengers. If there was most private pilots working on therir commercial licenses would or could have been violated. A private pilot can round up passengers as he/she sees fit. Secondly, try to prove that carrying the passengers was ...

Actually it's aircraft registered to Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, and Bermuda that are allowed access. Just landing a Yemense registered aircraft in Bermuda would not gain you access stateside.

Lost Lake, I have over 5,000 hours of DHC-6 PIC time. Instructed on the DHC-6 at Flight Safety inToronto. Flown them all over the world on straight skiis, wheel skiis, CAP and Wip floats (straight and amphib) oh and of course wheels. I almost forgot about the several transatlantic ferry flights I di...

Re: Diagnosed with Diabetes Type 2
I was diagnosed 6 years ago with type 2. I hold an ATPL and am flying for a living. It's actually no biggee if your blood sugars are under control. I was on Metformin for the first six months and had to have an HBA1C test done every six months. Since I am no longer under medication (controlled with ...

The procedure as outlined clearly in the IPM is to circle towards the center of the airport and execute the missed approach for the APPROACH just completed (or whatever revised missed approach clearance ATC gave you). This is basic stuff boys and girls. The landing ...

NEVER give up your passport! Re: Over-dedicated Employees...
I think the point Bob was trying to make is that there is a difference between enjoying your job and loving it. When you are controlled by an emotion you tend to make hasty decisions and judgement is compromised. The "love" of airplanes and aviation is why many pilots work for lower wages than my wi...

Re: What exactly does this mean?
In my years in aviation (28) I have found that respect given when due, is returned. I neither bend over for TC or do I go out and look for a fight. I have also found that those who come looking for a fight will usually find one. If you have been in non-compliance and subsequently found guilty throug...

Widow, Operators usually recruit their management from within their employee ranks. Pilots are not typically schooled in all the subtleties of provincial labor law, federal labor law, and occupational health and safety. It's all most of us can do to keep up with the CAR'S, the CASS, TDG, ACP, SMS, e...

Trey Kule You have know idea what the situation was, who we are, what we owed, or have any other information relevant to this particular issue, but yet you feel the need to throw out the word slave and that we should feel ashamed. Re: global report on pilot flight duty times
Widow, Some things regulated or not defy common sense. We had a situation where our pilots were working a couple of long days per week and a couple of very short days per week with a couple of days off. Average work hours (flight duty not flight time) wouldn't have hit 30 hours per week. So it never...
