'We failed,' Yukon RCMP says of in-custody death
'We failed,' Yukon RCMP says of in-custody death CBC News Yukon RCMP have expressed shock and regret over the "insensitive and callous" way it treated Raymond Silverfox, who died after spending 13 hours in custody in 2008. The 43-year-old First Nations man from Carmacks, Yukon, was subjected to rid...

Re: "1/2hr rule": Where'd it go?
Loser, They are always checking the numbers. Unlike you, they really don't care in the big scheme of things. I guess you're right, they do check once in a while. They did dock that guy in Winnipeg of 5 days' pay for leaving 45mins before the end of his shift. I suppose they do care once in a while,...

Re: "1/2hr rule": Where'd it go?
The fact that some of you defend the violation of the contract is typical of the entitled attitude exhibited by many controllers. I guess time will tell whether or not the various MACCOs agree with your biased and arbitrary interpretation of what is written in black and white. Good luck with that wh...

Re: "1/2hr rule": Where'd it go?
On a side note Mr. Manager, could you explain to me why these mysterious memos circulate in only select control centres and not all of them? *I say this having worked in 2 different centres where mgmt appears to have very different priorities...* Well here's a news flash for you: there are seven ce...

Re: "1/2hr rule": Where'd it go?
If you pulled that stunt at any other job you'd be fired. Controlling isn't like any other job. That's why most controllers love their job so much. Uh, leaving early is not part of the collective agreement, and in fact has been explicitly prohibited via several memos from management, but thanks for...

If there is enough bodies to fill traffic requirements and immediate recall at that given time what the F&CK does it matter??? Thats my blathering point idiot.... I scratch my head as to why you are so FKING bothered by this, whether you are a controller or a CT'ed trainee??? Aspirations of becom...

Reality check, (proper fitting name for you and this topic), What are your credentials? And where do you get your info? You seem to be very upset over this topic. Your comments truly enlighten me to the fact that you don't have a clue as to how an operation runs. Its been stated before that every u...

Re: "1/2hr rule": Where'd it go?
It's an unofficial policy followed by the controllers. Controllers figure out their break schedules among themselves. Most controllers work about half an hour on, maybe an hour, and then half an hour off. Everyone structures their break schedule so that the last half hour of their shift is a "break"...

Re: "1/2hr rule": Where'd it go?
Nope, that's not it. It was deleted. Regardless, I thought everyone stayed until the absolute last minute of their shifts? Or maybe I'm the only one doing that... Yes, it was deleted. Maybe Jerricho knows why. He was the one who was flying off the handle at the mere suggestion that controllers rout...

Re: Cockpit to ACC
"I haven't heard recent numbers, but the new local training program seems to have improved check-out rates." Wrong. Winnipeg has had horrific checkout rates since NCTI closed -- the most recent figure is between 8-12%. That's right, eight percent. The West High speciality has only checked out 1 of t...

Re: Nav Canada & safety concerns
Even if you don't believe that, look at the statistics concerning overall safety within NAVCANADA. A steady decline over the past decade compared to the system prior under Transport Canada. It's easy to manufacture a decline in incidents when you stop reporting and/or recording those incidents. Doe...

Re: Nav Canada & safety concerns
I'm talking about incidents that were swept, either immediately, or after the fact once NC Ottawa took a look at it.
PM me if you're a controller that's seen this, and/or crew who never received an adequate explanation for obvious ATC errors where evasive action was required.
