Re: YXD countdown has begun
Hi Tom,
It has been awfully quiet since the closure. My morbid curiousity is wondering if the destruction of the City Centre Airport has begun. I haven't heard a peep about runways being ripped up or buildings being demolished. The thought of any of that makes me extremely sad.
Cheers,
Skydrvr7

Re: Celebrate Blatchford November 25th to 30th
Hi Tom, I am hoping you are getting some traction in getting the Boeing flown out of there. Has there been any news coverage of this situation? I wrote to a friend in TV news up there to inquire about it also. I will lend whatever help I can to helping make sure this story gets as much press as poss...

Here are some more aeronautical charts from WWII that I have collected.
Here is an example of one of the "Night Navigation" maps with the muted colours that are friendly to viewing under a red light.
Cheers!

Re: 1943-1944 TCA instrument approach procedures charts
I will have to check my charts and get back to you. In know that I have some foreign airport charts like London and some Caribbean destinations in there...I may have overlooked scanning all the Canadian ones. I also have some sweet WWII VNC charts including some that were made for night navigation.....

That would seem to be as good an idea as any to me...there are some instrument approaches where you come at the runway on an angle from the navaid also...maybe another contributing factor?

Re: 1943-1944 TCA instrument approach procedures charts
I posted CYXD on purpose....most people have no idea how grand that airport had once been and how the city failed to protect it from encroachment. I still say it could be a great transportation asset given a city council that has something other than land developers $$$$ in their pockets.

Thanks for pointing out the Dieppe Raid's similar date Fog! I think the two together make for an excellent reason to annually remember the sacrifices of our troops over many, many years, conflicts and peace keeping missions.

Re: Airdrie Welcomes Home Our Troops Tomorrow!
Thanks for the kind words Fog! We are modestly hoping for 500-1000 people but would be very happy to have a whole lot more! I think of the kind of turnout that the "Highway of Heroes" manages to attract in Ontario for the repatriation of one of our fallen troops and think Airdrie and Southern Albert...

Re: Some residents do like airplane noise
I concur with the CF-18's and the Airbus 320 engine noises. I always notice that sound the most clearly at Las Vegas as there seems to be so many A319/320/321's operating there...those V2500's have a very distinct whiny sound to them!
