Re: Seneca College Crashes again, minor injuries.
Glad they are both ok, hopefully it was some sort of mechanical issue and not pilot error. I have only flown with a couple Seneca grads in commercial opts (maybe not enough of a sample) but one thing common with these two, a whole lot of books smarts and 0 common sense. If you need to remember somet...

Are they using their own truck or is it from an FBO? An FBO surely would be following CPPI rules when it comes to off-loading

Re: Wind and Weather
I think that the FTU and flight instructor have alot less to do with how good a pilot is after he or she is liscensed. It has everything to do with the student. Some students simply put are stupid, not much you can do about that. Some are cheap and pay attention to their minimum training times requi...

Re: Instructor vs Student?
Generally students look up to you. I remember being nervous starting out instructing, trying to think of questions students may ask me. You'll find that the questions they ask you 90 percent of the time are very easy ones. You almost have to think that you know 100 times what they know, this will gi...

They like there pilots to have 500 hours multi, they dont have the 206 anymore. Its all contract work so schedule and i imagine pay vary job to job, but ive heard maximum...

Re: Overconfidence, what's the cure?
Definitely 'Intensity' cures this probem. I had a very over-confident, mouthy student a while ago (who is now happily liscensed). One day we were practising power on stalls and he was having trouble recovering from the wing drop, but was still acting very cocky. That is until he accidentally put him...

Re: Student Errors
Those are all really good points. As much as teaching the first few exercises SUCKS it is important. The most common error i notice is not doing crosswind imputs! drives me nuts, especially with a specialty take-off.

Re: How do I get a flying job as soon as possible?
Anything really is possible if your willing to work at it, and live where they want you. The only thing that scared me from a ramp job into instructing is job security. Instructing you pay your own salary (which isent much depending on the school and time of year, but if your young without much to s...

Re: Full-Time Pilot Career
One option is centennial college, professional pilot program. You get everything you need in one year (spetember to august) but getting it done in that time period depends on you and how much you put into it. Myself and a couple others finished in the year, a bunch more took a couple months extra, a...

Re: How many hours per week?
I always tell students to book as much as they can, for the above reason as well (not getting rusty and having to review) but also because you WILL be weathered out at some point, out of five flights in a week, depending on where you live, it may be rare to actually do all five

Re: Instructor Rating VS Share in plane
If you get an instructor rating, for the purpose of building time, the only way to do it properly is to go full board. like 7 days a week, be as available as you can. You will get tons of students like that and build tons of hours, and during the good weather times of the year it even equals out to ...
