Re: 1100 Hours, Your advice on my next move please

Yeah I'm going to MIFR it. Just got laid off as the 206 contract isn't being renewed.

E.I. Funding, just laid off

Alright, just got laid off today. Company is getting Caravans and pilots are cheaper to replace than train. 1000 hours TT, all PIC, 300 floats, mainly C206T. Guess I'll go get the MIFR. What's the most you've heard of the gov chipping in? I've heard someone say 70% but I thought it was just 50%. Any...

Re: 1100 Hours, Your advice on my next move please

I'm just looking at the reality of it. Boss would rather hire someone else to fly the new 'Van than pay for my training. Therefore, I stay on 206 for an indefinite time making 2500/mth. Or, I pay my own training (assuming job security) and with the doubled salary, that means that I basically keep 25...

Re: 1100 Hours, Your advice on my next move please

I don't think I would go buy it. However, if I paid for 10k for the 'Van ppc, and had a job lined up, my C206 2500$/mth salaray gets doubled, and in 4 months I've paid for the training and have turbine time. Strategically, it wouldn't be a bad move if job security was a guarantee.

Re: Fress Press story - Thursday Sept 3 2009

I'm curious about what reprimands face a pilot. If the pilot is flying with fuel gauges that are not accurate (though he obviously knows how much is in them), will he face a fine? Are the prosecutions/fines/penalties ever directed at the pilot? Lots of snags aren't a question of safety and snagging ...

1100 Hours, Your advice on my next move please

Looking for your advice. I'll be laid off in October, with two seasons of flying under my belt. I'll have over 1100 hours TT and all PIC except for the original training. 300 hours on floats, the rest are wheels, C206-turbo. Should I take my MIFR this fall or should I take the caravan course/flight ...

Re: Standard passenger weights and overloading planes

Just trying to cover my ass. The company says to use a male weight of 189 lbs and I am not allowed to change that weight even if the passenger is 250 lbs. Not sure where that 189 came from so wanted to see what showed up on the forums. And that statement doesnt make a lot of sense. It says, "On any ...

Standard passenger weights and overloading planes

When loading an airplane, a pilot is allowed to use standard male and female passenger weights. On a small plane if a few people are significantly over the standard weight, the plane will be overloaded. Obviously this brings into question safety issues, but my question is whether or not a pilot can ...

Re: My salary, your thoughts please.

Lately it's been 100 hours flight time per month; but I'm paid in mileage which relates to air time, not flight time. I took in about 3k gross last month, but I was basing my figures on past and projected averages for this company. About 10000 miles per month at .25 =2500$. Divide that by how often ...

Re: My salary, your thoughts please.

No. If you work out the hourly pay of the time I am either at the airport waiting for a charter (not getting paid), or flying the airplane (.25cents/NM), it works out to about 10$ or 11$/hr, the 8$ was a little low.

Re: My salary, your thoughts please.

I really appreciate all the input, guys. I'm getting close to 100 flight hours a month so I'll ride it out for now. There are some other pressures in regards to the operations of the plane (and I imagine those pressures are fairly common in the industry, one could probably guess what I'm refering to...

My salary, your thoughts please.

Looking for some info from people that have been around and have a good handle on industry standards. At my current job, I am being paid by the mile (.25cents) and am expected to come in 6 days per week (8-5), even if there are no scheduled flights. I have 800 TT, and am flying a 206. Should I just ...
