I live off island and spent almost two hours today giving truckers a lift through the drive through of their choice to get some food or coffee at a truckstop.
No charge - just a small gesture.
Know the feeling all too well of long flights with no catering

A serious question if someone has the time to answer .. What is the process for a pilot after he/she is laid off? I mean aside from the immediate scramble for work of course, but whats involved with backing yourself with the UI process, availability of programs for retraining etc. etc. I ask simply ...

Hi folks, I've recently transitioned (voluntarily) to a new airplane that has me overnighting on a number of pairings that have me close to a lot of water ... atlantic and and a number of pretty decent inland lakes. I want to start bringing a rod and reel with me for some diversion. Does anyone have...

Re: Criminal Record Question
One thing you might want to consider - if you have any chance of working for the FTU in the future, you can get the chief pilot or owner to come up with a letter stating as part of your employment you may have need to travel to the US. Attach this letter with your pardon application and it will grea...

Re: Quickest way to learn how to identify commercial aircraf
Heres a real simple trick that can end the "is it Boeing or Airbus" confusion. If the fuselage runs straight back with no bend past the apu it's an Airbus ... if it pinches down past the horizontal stab it's a Boeing. If it's got long legs, big b**bs and earrings, it's a 757 with winglets, if it's k...

Not to be contrary, but... How many hours can you get in a season on the 310 vs. the para drop work? In an interview situation, which is more likely to turn the head of the interviewer ... "there I was sitting straight and level in teh 310 for six hours" ... or "the idiot hung on and almost bounced ...

Hi Ecco, I just came across your post as I wondering what I should do with the helmet I have sitting in my attic. I did two years of crop spraying in a Pawnee, and regs said I needed a nomex suit and helmet. I bought the helmet from the US - a military outfit that converted shells to civilian use - ...

Without getting too personal let me throw a couple of cents. I'm not sure if its just vogue to crap on Jazz since it's affiliated with AC, but let me tell you a quick tale of woe. Two years ago I worked for a Quebec company who had me sign a two year bond of $24000 that had me flying night cargo to ...

I was on a flight from YUL to YWG and apparently even the controllers were caught by surprise ... we were cleared to position and hold on the active then were told back to the bay whilst ATC got our new routing. Enroute a while later we heard no less than five incursions and the ominous threat of in...

At FL200 with TIT's matched out at 847 you're looking at between 1000-1100 pph per side.
Hope this helps.

Re: What to do
If you are looking to immediately enter the workforce, go for the ramp job. Your credentials from Florida in the eyes of TC are just a private pilot. You will have to redo your commercial written and flight test, ifr written and flight test and the entire course to be a Canadian instructor. Unless t...

I was doing some pre IFR test work in the twin today with a student and after all the approaches at the big airport were done, I asked him to do a short field effort touch and go. On short final I saw three folks well before the threshold to the left side watching his work. We did the t+g and went u...

Bring your own tie downs. For the wife and kids if they're not golfers, right across the road is Upper Ca...

I'm trying to keep this low key, although I can hardly type. I have been hired by a company that operates aircraft using the KLN90B GPS. I am used to the 430 or 530 variants by Garmin. I will be doing a ride within the week and would like to be as prepared as possible. Does anyone know where I can f...
